tried to overlay the terraservice maps on GE, but keep gettin the message that the WMS capabilities failed.
anyone got any other suggestions, or any other topo files that can be downloaded to use as a transparent overlay??
was really hoping i could figure this out so i could do some"scouting " from here before the hunt.
Me too...ttt
I am not sure, but I overlay GE staelite images into my Garmin and it has to be a .kmz file to transfer back and forth.
May try that
I have a topo overlay that I found but it isn't transparent.
yeah, ben i just downloaded a file for one of those and can't even get it to work -- wondering if it is something on google's end??
well, crap -- just found a link and it appears that the terraserver was shut down this spring. that explains why it won't work.
so now what are our options??
anyone know of a replacement WMS service of the USGS Quad Maps?? or a server that has this info?? if not, that's gonna put a damper on scouting with the puter
Have you checked this out? Topo maps for google earth (http://www.gelib.com/usgs-topographic-maps-2.htm) These take a while to download so don't get in a hurry and unclick them. I just checked it out on google earth and works fine.
Also check this out. This really works well and you can choose terrain topo and sat Acme Mapper (http://mapper.acme.com/)
saw that earlier today, but wasn't sure -- i'll try it and see what it does.
I downloaded NGS_TOPO_US_2D. I have to wait for the topo overlay to show up at near full scale before I can zoom in and see it.
