Title: Noisey Arrow / Carbon Finish
Post by: PastorSteveHill on September 22, 2012, 10:45:00 PM
I have some carbon arrows that match up nice with my bow, but the finish on them make them real noisy when drawing my bow.  Is there something I can put on the arrow to quieten it down?  They are carbon express arrows, they have sort of a weave pattern on them... Any suggestions?  Thnx

I've got the same problem with some Predator shafts.  I'm going to try some of the tire shine spray like "black magic" and see if that works.

What are you using on your shelf/rest?

bear hair on the rest seems to be the quietest or seal skin (hard to get).

try just a little 0000 steel wool and then johnson paste wax. I have heard it works, but have never used it.
I have found that with the bear  hair, it is unnecessary except for maybe "bow hunter educated" whitetails that I have personally met in Texas.

I had that problem and used 0000 steel wool up and down the shaft a few times to smooth out the finish, Just a few times up and down worked great!

I'd look for a quieter rest/side plate material.

actually that or just keeping your fingers in your ears might only work in New Mexico so maybe try some different rest material or smooth the finish on those shafts will work pretty good.
