Here goes guys. With moon coming into the bright side here locally, deer are moving after dark, middle of the day, 10-2pm is my usual guideline. I slept in till 8:30 this morning, woke up with a terrible cough, kept hacking, decided to turkey hunt instead of deer. I have had 2 bunches of turkeys hitting my food plot, just over the hill from my house, 250 yds as the crow flies, have a natural blind there under a big pine, with some cedar slabs stacked up in a triangle, brush piled up against it, with 3 shooting slots out to my food plot. This is a morning only hunt, and had been seeing 2 different flocks of turkeys coming in on camera between 9am and 11 am. I got in the blind at 10am, on the button thought I would give it a couple of hours. Skeeters were horrible. I was looking around in the blind, was bare where I had cleaned it up a few weeks ago, and turkeys had been dusting in it! About 11:10 I hear a turkey yelp, nothing in sight, so I get angled where I want to be on my stool, and get ready. Five minutes later in walks 6 hens and starts picking. They are between 15-30 yards and on both sides of me. I have on my ghillie suit and a spandex face mask, killed several birds in this camo before. The birds mill around, then each picks out certain place to start picking. One of the biggest hens walks into my shooting port at 12 yards, her back to me. I come to full draw, touch anchor on my cheek and as I pull thru the flo yellow feathers hit between the wing butts and the turkeys go ballistic. The hen hops, flops and twirls around for about 10 yds and then that is it. The others have taken off back into the woods. I walk over and give thanks, then go find my arrow. Success of any kind is appreciated after the last week or so I have had. This is the first real dedicated food plot I have put out, and it is already paying off great. This is my 15th trad turkey, never got one with a wheelie bow. I used a #50 Quinn Stallion, GT 55/75, with 100gr. Brass insert, 165gr. Ace std. Just thought I would share guys.

Thanks guys, as I have said before, I am no great shakes as a turkey hunter, with any weapon, hearing too bad from shooting high powered rifles and pistols as a kid with little hearing protection. I hunt turkeys same as deer here, in the fall, travel routes and food sources. My food plot also has a monster white oak dropping acorns in it now, that helps things quite a bit.
Congrats Sam!!!
congrats
