I got home Wednesday night....I have been catching up on work ever since. No elk killed, but I learned a lot. I will be writing a few words about it in the next few days. The short version is tht we came close, but no cigar. My hunting partner Todd Smith proved to be an excellent backwoodsman and elk bugler. What beautiful country, I need to go back....

Great pics Roger and looking forward to the rest of the story. :coffee:

:campfire:
Looking forward to what Roger writes... It was a pleasure sharing the hunt with him. He is game to go as far and as deep as it takes to get on a bull too.
His stalking skills are crazy!! He can fill in the details.
It was a great hunt. Idaho was beautiful country and easy on us even though we probably logged about 75-miles on foot that week.
Once the bulls started talking - the adrenaline started dumping!! :D
There were eight of us bowhunting and it was a fantastic trip with a great group of bowhunters.

I agree Todd it was some awesome country and a great adventure with a great group of guys! I had a blast.
real cool can't wait to hear the rest of the story
Hey Steve! Good to see you on here! If you guys don't know Steve, he is a good man to "ride the river" with. He seems to be good at feeding me. Last Compton, I was wandering through the campsites, trying to look hungry...Steve fell for the bait and hollered for me to come over and share his stew. It was awesome. This trip, he was the only man to put game on the table..here he is with 3 blue (spruce?) grouse.

The grouse was a great way to break in my new pronghorn! It's a great bow.
Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures. An elk hunt is on my list hopefully in the very near future!
