I found a good bull this past week in north central Colorado In the mount zirkel wilderness area that had been shot by an archer earlier this year. If anyone hit one they didn't recover, give a shout. I didn't bring the antlers out, (due to the smell!) but can put you there via map easy enough. I did find the broken shaft and broadhead do it should be easy to identify if it's the same bull. I have pics as well. Hope this helps someone put and end to wondering what happened. I know I'd like to know. I certainly won't post who's bull it is out of respect of your privacy.

My email is nedodgemdp@yahoo.com as well. I can email pics too, but the shaft and head should be sufficient for identification.
Good on you. Hope you are able to bring someone closure on this. :clapper:
I'm hoping so too. I lost a big 6x6 in southern Colorado a few years ago that I wonder about to this day! Liver hit and the sky opened up and it poured.
Elk have an amazing ability to WANT to live. Even when things go right, they can be a pain to recover.
I hunted in that area last year.....big country!!!! I hope you find the hunter and give him some closure!!!
Me and a buddy hunted the Northern end of the Zirkle this year but never had the opportunity to loose an arrow. Hopefully you make a connection with the hunter, I know I would want to know where you found it if it were me.

ttt
Let's hope the right someone sees this!
ttt fellas.
So far, one possibility. Waiting to hear what arrow and heads the fella was shooting. Heard from his hunting buddy tonight, just wasn't sure of the arrows.
Keep us posted.
If anyone can walk me through posting pics with an iPhone on here, I'd like to post a pic too.
Nathan pm sent.
Pics sent Matt. Thanks in advance!
No updates yet folks. I'll post if anything changes.
The people on this site are the best! Glad to be part of it! Good luck finding the person who lost their prize.

Thanks for posting the pics Matt!
WOW......nice one......
Some bowhunter is absolutely sick over that one! I hope you find him, but I doubt it will help the feelings he must be having. The thought of what might have been will likely haunt him the rest of his days.
I have no doubt Whip. I know the feeling all to well. And it doesn't go away. It would be great to someday find a thread like this and find the bull I lost in the San Juan's in 07. If nothing else, I'd just like to know what I missed. Looked for that bull for 5 days. He bedded 2 times in the first 300 yds. His first bed was just 100-125 yds from where I shot him...
Darn rain...
Nice bow in the pic!!!!
Ain't mine and if you can deal with the smell I say "Finder Keepers" You can have it!
:archer:
And smell was certainly something he didn't lack!!!
I think its really cool you are trying to find the owner. Nice character Sir!!!
:campfire:
So far I've gotten several messages from folks who hunted the same area this year, but only one that had someone arrow a bull they didn't recover. I'll know more about that bull tomorrow hopefully. Sounds like the same size bull, hoping his arrows match.
I wouldn't doubt some of us have crossed paths out in that area at some point.
Very upstanding of you to try to find the hunter that arrowed this bull!
Great gesture ! Hopefully someone will have their hunting story closed, good on you sir :notworthy: :clapper:
Well, unfortunately the only good lead for this bull didn't pan out.
ttt once more hoping that someone has been looking for their bull from behind the computer screen!
This is unbelievable! What an awesome animal! I hope his owner claims him and good man for trying to make it happen  :notworthy:
Worth staying at the top....good on you Nate !
I hope you find the right hunter. I know I made what I thought was a great shot on a double main beam whitetail a few years ago and was sick when I could not find him. I really, even to this day, wish I had videoed the shot so I could maybe see wht went wrong. I was lucky and my hunting partner found the head 9 days later on a last ditch effort to look one more time. The head and backbone was all that was left so I could tell nothing about shot placement. He is mounted in my living room now but it still bugs me when I look at him and can't figure out what went wrong with the shot.

Great effort ... good luck. I would certainly be crying over that loss !
Back up.
Gotta keep hoping...
Thanks for the bumps fellas. Like Tom said, just gotta keep hoping. I'd love to get a pm that someone's been looking for him!
TTT You never know who is lurking out there.
TTT hoping someone gets closure!
