Last year's buck

With luck, there will be some more this year.
Last year's doe taken from the ground (not my DB...I was sitting on a stool in blueberry thicket). She turned at the shot and almost beat it...not fast enough.

A few mulies I killed spot and stalk. My favorite way of hunting, not many trees to sit in here.
Wyoming free range, wild bison, spot and stalk.
Wyo Shiras moose, spot and stalk. I got to 20 yards, then this bull came to me for a 6 yard shot.
Here are pictures of two different whitetails who fell to the ground while I was eye level with them. There is no greater rush than putting one on the ground while at their level in natural cover.

I was standing with a good amount of cover behind me and a small amount in front when I heard several Elk coming down a hill. She paused briefly in front at 8 feet, my bow was already up so I just came to full draw and released.
From 2005. I was sitting on a little stool in front of a brush pile.

LUCKY head shot. (http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o629/wetfeathers1/IMG_9096_zps8a5979da.jpg)6 yds on the ground. almost stepped on him in his bed!(thick creek bottom)
Great trophies everyone. :clapper:
I think they're all winners!! Great going everybody!

I don't bother with dead deer pictures much anymore, but since going 100% on the ground 4 years ago, I've gotten 4 bucks and several does and fawns. I think 4 or 5.
Maybe this year I'll have a buddy snap some pics.
awesome :) great job guys all

Keep them coming guys. In the Midwest where I live everyone pretty well uses a tree stand. I enjoy sitting in the stand, but I also enjoy ground hunting and I'm gonna give it a go this year.
I'm will have my netting from Am$zon in the next few days for my ghillie. I am making a ghillie similar to the one Guru made for turkey. Mine will have more fall colors in it though.
 Hopefully God will smile on my little set up near the apple tree and white oak this fall! They are both on field edge/fence line. The ghillie will be the best way to hunt it I think. There is a stand close, but I don't feel it is in quite the right position and I can't move it.
Ghillies rule!

cool...
I've gotten and elk and 6 mule deer form the ground no whitetail.....
Expected to see mulies, elk, hogs and javies. Those are solid accomplishments no doubt. I take my hat off to those who have killed whitetails from the ground without a blind, especially to guys like Joe who appear to do it with some consistency!
Most from trees for me but here's a couple....

the first buck in the snow almost looks like a painted magizene cover. Good pics guys.
God Bless,
Nathan
You guys are awesome! inspiring! I just got ghillie suit, and this thread is killing me!
These two fell to my GN Critter Gitter and fir arrows last year, the buck in Nov and the doe in Jan, both from the same ground blind. The dark spot in the middle of the blind is my bag setting on my seat.

I'll get pics. But my hunting partner killed 2 pope and young bucks in 2 days while hunting out of a Marc Anthony ghille suit two years ago after we noticed that the deer were avoiding all 12 or our pre hung stands due to overhunting them. Each stand was getting rested two weeks between sits and it was not enough. He killed both bucks close to some of the stands but by mid-november he realized the deer knew where all the stands were and were avoiding them so he improvised and killed them from the ground in his Ghille suit.
Had just finished a PB&J sandwich and apple while sitting on a blow-down right around 11:00AM when this fine feller walked up and I took him at eye level with no cover between us from 11 yards. I remember everything about the shot like it was yesterday. He surprised me and I was not ready, but I raised the bow fast and released all in one motion and 35 yards later he piled up.
I was seated on the log in the background and he was about the spot he's laying in the image.
Best hunt ever.

The deer in my avatar was taken while still-hunting along a miliflori-rose tangle beside a cornfield. Another wonderful success.

I like this thread as I will be hunting from the ground this year. Glad to see success photos.
