so im using b50 mostly 16 strand strings are made. im experimenting with 16 for my heavier bows and im wondering what amount of strech i can expect from a 70# with a 16 strand b50 string, i want to make the string and pre strech it on my bowpress( run string along the nuts and screw it up as high as it can go and leave over night on my game scale it says im prestreching with over 250 # of force so i dont expect any strech when i get it on the bow but if i make the string say 63" pre streching do you think it would strech to the goal of 65" i still have room to twist down if it streches more
Be careful placing it over nuts and bolts, you could rub or cut the string and not know it causing breakage down the road.
It will stretch over 2"--the problem with dacron (or any material, but much less with FF types) is it will retract a good bit when the tension is removed. That's why I like to leave my bows strung.
Temps play a factor in how much/how fast also. 63" would be a good starting point before putting it on the stretcher.
