I've always found it a pain to glue broadheads to adapters and get them glued on true. I was wondering if anybody has any inside information on just how they get them glued on straight and true. Maybe a technique they use that works every time..or a least most of the time.
I just glue them on and try to push down on a piece of metal while holding the shaft as straight up and down as I can. Sometime they spin true, sometimes I have to redo over and over.
What really brought this to my attention was when I ordered some screw in broadheads from Simmons and saw how much better they would spin than the ones I thought were true that I had glued on.

I've used an alignment jig that 3 Rivers sells (forgot the make) that basically is 2 pairs of rollers with a magnetic You lay the arrow across the rollers, put the point in a divot in the disc and spin. I think the concept is that the drag of the magnetic disc on the tip will align the arrow automatically as you spin it. It seems to work okay, but before that I had a homemade one that was four field points screwed side by side with pairs about 12-14" apart into a piece of board to create bearings to lay the arrow across with a reference point held against the tip to watch as you spin it. Probably worked just as well, although you'd have to make manual adjustments and re-check. Probably find a "how-to" tutorial on Youtube.
OK, thanks Richard..I may make some kind of jig..just thought I would throw the question out to see if anybody had a sure fire method.
I never see any questions about mounting broadheads to adapters and know for me anyway it can be aggravating some times to get them right.
I dry fit everything and make sure old glue is out. I then use gorilla glue.
With the the gorilla glue I have time to spin, check and tweak. I then sit it point down against a wall and wait til it starts to expand. I wipe off excess a couple times while checking for spin.
I like the fact that it expands up through the area where the metal is press together and seals around the adapter completly.
Only problem is you can't remove them.
I just check for true spin on my finger or table for as long as I remember.
