I have a martin tracer. It is basically a compound riser converted to a recurve. With that it is cut way past center so a rest is needed I know a flipper like the NAP center rest will work but I am going to try an old golden key rising star rest on it. They were sold for years as a finger shooting rest and know they were used for finger shooting compounds so I figured it should work for this setup. Any one have any experience with shooting this type of rest.
If it doesn't work I can always putt a flipper rest on it.
It should work and you should be able to get decent arrow flight using it. You might have to work at how far from center you make your adjustments in relation to arrow spine.
By the way is Cobden the same small town it was back in the early 60's? I remember visiting there with my folks and doing some hunting in the woods. It was around the time the high school basket ball team won the state.
I don't think it has changed much. I go to church with one of the team members from that team. I figured it would work fine. The rests were for finger shooting so it should be able to tune and shoot. I got plenty of arrows and points to find a match.
It'll work fine. You might slide some heat-shrink tubing over the metal arms and lightly heat them to quiet down the arrow to rest noise.
You can bend the side metal arm in/out or the lower metal arm up/down to fit the arrow diam size, and also slide the whole rest in/out for centershot.
Paper tuning with fingers worked well for me to get bullet holes if adjusted/spined correctly. Just hold the bow vertical when tuning, but also test canted if you shoot with a cant.
Got it will do on the paper tuning. I have some old tape for bodoodle rests I am going to stick on the fins for getting it quiet. If that doesn't hold up it will be a trip to the hardware store for some heat shrink tubing.
