Don't stop now!!! :coffee:
friday morning was opening day. I had lived my entire summer in the woods. Mainly on a solid chunk of Federal NPS land enjoying some great wildlife photography opportunities. I had honed my woods skills to the max.
That first morning I found myself surrounded by deer. Some were too close, I had my eye on one buck, but deer were in between myself and a good solid range to shoot from. I ended up with some great film from the first day but no deer.
I took that knowledge home and this morning I knew exactly where to be when the sun came up. I got settled into my location which was just a deadfall next to a tree. And sure enough first light came and was followed by a parade of deer. It started with a large group of does.
I had myself set up on a funnel with a geographical pinch point. The funnel filtered down into a narrow creek bed that they were using heavily. I was less than 20 yards from the pinch spot and each deer went through this hole. When the last doe got to the pinch point I looked up where they came from to see two bucks clanking their horns together. I waited and they started drifting down towards me. I had intentions of shooting the first buck in the lineup, but when he hit the opening I had he caught my draw. He quickly bounced through the opening and I grunted the second one when he passed through the opening. He stopped I drew back annnnnnnnddddd . . . .
That is my favorite kind of arrow....... A BLOODY ONE :readit:
:campfire:
Alright, what happened next???
He must be having coffee with Charlie Lamb!
And then? And then?
Along came Jones?

If I have to hit "refresh" one more time I'm gonna......
Maybe heart attack or alien abduction...
Don't you just hate when you get to the best part of the movie and someone bumps the remote and accidentally changes the channel...?
What happened?
:dunno: :dunno:
HAHAHA I had to get to sleep last night I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, lol . . .
What happened next could only be described as lots and lots of practice paying off. I drew back and picked a spot. Let the arrow fly and it soared about 19 yards into the sweet spot. He was slightly quartering away and the arrow nicked the liver(dad wasn't happy) and got both lungs just above the heart. He ran about 25 yards down the ravine and expired.
He's no monster by any means, but when a opportunity like that presents itself its hard to say no. Especially when the freezers are alittle empty.
