Title: arm guard straps
Post by: Stump73 on September 05, 2012, 06:49:00 PM
Can you buy the elastic band that you use on your arm band at hobby store or a hardware store?. What do you use and where can I get it locally?. I'm making an arm guard and I need it before the weather gets colder to hold my sleeves out of the way.

3Rivers sells it by the foot.

Not sure of where you'd find it in a local setting.

Mike, pm me your address and I'll send you some.  I can get it in the mail right away and you should have it in a couple days.  Keith

Shock cord is available through most good camping stores as well. Eastern Mountain Sports, REI to name a few. It's also available in a couple different diameters.

I used the strap off of those bungy cords with the plastic balls on them.  I think I just had them laying around so I grabbed them and cut the balls off.  They squeeze down pretty tight though

I just went through some stuff we have for a garage sale and found a backpack with some of that cord on it. I now have plenty to do an arm guard or two. Thanks for the help guys. Quickblood thanks for the offer. That's why this site is awesome!

Thanks again, Mike

I'd say your local fabric store should have something as well

No problem shed hunter, glad to help if I can.  Good job using resources on hand.  Let's see that new armguard when you get it done.  Have a great season.

Girls use these little circular elastic bands to bind their hair.  They are are almost any store in packages.  They make great makeshift devices to bind things-easier to use and harder to lose than a rubber band. They can hold your armguard on until Quickblood's package arrival.

Generous of you, QB.
