Title: What's the deal with Zippers?
Post by: pamike on September 05, 2012, 06:04:00 PM
I was thinking about trading for a zipper longbow and I did you searches in classifieds. I found a number of them that were selling for 400 to 500 bucks. On their website they are over 1000 bucks for in stock bows. Are there older, cheaper, or ??? Models? What am I missing? The reviews seem to be very good.

Thanks for any help
Mike

There are a lot of bows that are 900-1500 dollars when new. 3-5 years later they are worth 400-600 give or take. The folks who try to get 700-1000 for a used bow don't sell them to fast. Heck I even bought a Zipper at Denton Hill for $375 and it's fantastic. My first Black Widow was $400 dollars.

Mike,If you are seeing used Zipper's for that kind of money. Chances are they are Thompson built Zippers or at least that style of Zipper. Nothing wrong with those earlier Zippers. They are great bows and a bargain. They just dont have the newer materials or design.I'm fairly sure you would not find many Exotic wood, carbon and foam Zipper for that kind of money.

A good newer model used zipper, say a SXT should be in the 675-800 dollar range. You will NEVER regret buying a Carbon foam ZIppper SXT!

It seems to be a buyers market.  There's alot of bows for sale out there.  If you want to sell one, it needs to be priced low.  Good time to buy if you have the funds.  ( Of course...  I always think it's a good time to buy more bows!)   :archer:

Some people might be like myself, I don't like dealing with tire kickers & when I sell a bow, I price it to sell. My thinking is if I still have it after a week it's priced too high.

That's just me though,
Dan

I picked up a used recurve with the foam limbs from a friend and absolutely love it. I already want another one and havent spilled blood with the one I just got. Would really like to try the nitro longbow.

Great bows and one of the best and most consistant grips out there!   I picked one up used and sold it for pretty much the same $$$,  about $625 or so. Only sold it because it was a little too heavy draw wt for me.

Bills  customer service is first-rate and his prices are very very reasonable.

Mike, you can't go wrong w/  a Zipper

I have a Nitro and an SXT recurve.  They are beyond a shadow of a doubt the best performing bows that I have ever shot.  They are quiet, shoot were you look, and have no hand shock.  The grips are some of the most repeatable of any bows out there.  The textured finish feels great as well.  I was a skeptic in the beginning but I am a fan now.  Both of mine are carbon foam.  Plan on doing a post later today with pics and specifics of each.

Bill's customer service is tops. Answers every question and makes sure his customers are happy.

I had a Standard riser model with bamboo limbs that I kick myself for selling.   :banghead:

I am impatiently, patiently waiting for a Standard Hunter recurve, with similar specs, from him right now.   :biglaugh:

You won't go wrong with a Zipper.
