By this time tomorrow I will have left Atlanta international airport and be well on my way to Salt Lake City. From there it is on to Anchorage for about a 5 hour layover. We will fly out of Anchorage at 6am to Kotzebue. After grabbing a quick breakfast if the weather is good, we fly 50 miles northwest into the tundra on a DIY caribou hunt. I will be back in 10-12 days hopefully with stories to tell and pictures to show.
I'm going with Greg Campbell from Marshallville. He's done this 3 or 4 times already and was gracious enough to allow a novice caribou hunter to tag along. I am a little pumped needless to say! Wish me luck! :wavey:
Lucky you....   Best of luck!!

Since you have such a long layover in Anchorage, grab the shuttle to the Milenium Hotel and get an order of Halibut Chunks and Shrimp Bisque from the bar there. I do it anytime I have more than a two hour layover...it is that good!
Thanks for the info Steve!
Have a safe trip and good Luck!!!!

Go get em Randy! Have a great time and keep safe. Can't wait for the stories you come back with.
Enjoy!
Glacier brew house was my favorite place to eat when I lived in Anchorage. Moose's tooth pizza pretty good and can get some good beer at both places.
Good Luck!
Wow your going WAY up there! Good luck and have fun!!!
I think about 30 miles above the arctic circle! I haven't flown in almost 20 years so this whole trip will be quite an adventure!
Best wishes and be safe

Good luck and look forward to your stories and pics. Be prepared for the potential of nasty weather and bugs!
Don't forget your bug repellent or you'll be sooorrry... good luck.
When i was up there in 83' we were paddling a canoe though the shallow end of a lake one evening .... when all of a sudden here comes a bull moose flying across the water about 4' feet above our heads. As it came across our bow i heard the mosquitoes talking back and forth saying, "Should we take him to shore and eat him here? or take him home with us?"......
That sounds like a great adventure. Have a great trip, looking forward to hearing how it goes.
