Title: Ready To Give It Up!
Post by: Scattergun2570 on September 03, 2012, 05:27:00 PM
I don`t know what my issue is. Today I stop at the range, and the tail end of my arrow is so wildly flying to the left, its amazing! These are the same arrows that once shot alot better.never 100%,but a ton better. I have to blame it on myself, release, etc.. I don`t know what to do..I don`t know how I got to this point... I am hitting what I am looking at,,but the flight just makes me wanna go home!

I'd move in REALLY close and do some blind bale form work for a week or so.

Also, a video in the shooting section may get some good help for you.

Maybe check your brace height.

Check your nocking point too. It may have moved on you. If it moved it could be making the arrow slam the shelf and make the arrow appear to be tailing left.

If your arrows are flying that badly you have a tuning issue. That's actually good new because it means it's not all just your shooting. Even when you pluck the string have a bad release etc. your arrows should not be wagging side to side that bad. My guess is the spine is wrong.

Ditto what Jon said, depending on the bow it could be a little touchy with what arrows it likes.  Just be patient and it will come together for you.

Go back to the basics, close on the bale shooting focusing on the form only and do the gradual move back and then start aiming again. I have to do this every year before the season if I dont shoot through the summer months.

The only thing that has changed is the nock point,,it may be low..dont know if that can cause it. Other than that everything else has not changed.

My bet is that it is a tuning issue

"The only thing that has changed is the nock point,,it may be low..dont know if that can cause it. Other than that everything else has not changed. "

Take a video of your self shooting and watch it closely.  IF as you say above nothing much has changed,  YOU are doing something differently!!! If you equipment has not changed substantially, YOU HAVE.  Too many look to the equipment first when it should be to LOOK at your self FIRST.  YOU are the most changeable part of the archery shot!!!!

Move your nock back to where it belongs. You should try shooting through paper. That will tell you what the arrow is doing.

You said it yourself the nock point is low. If it is low it can make your arrows tail left.

If the nock point has moved, are the arrow nocks on a part of the serving that is too tight now?

I agree with all of the above. You should start with the previously mentioned. You may want to check and see if your draw length has not increased aswell. This would make a tail left, right impact with bare shafts (right handed shooter). Try a little less point weight, or shortening your shafts a bit to see if that helps. A gradual increase in draw over time is hard to feel, but easy to see in arrow flight. Good luck. You'll get back to where you want to be!

This may help, it is an excellent way to tune arrows.
