Hunted Northern VA with a friend yesterday morning. Sat on a stool behind a large oak while my buddy ran a video camera. He whispered, "Deer! Deer! Deer!" I tried to look where he was looking, but the tree was blocking my view. Finally, I leaned far enough around the tree to the left to catch the tail end of a deer moving left-to-right down a trail towards us . . putting it in a postion to cross in front of me at 15 yards. I shifted to the right to pick up the deer just as its head passed behind another large oak.
I started to draw. . .
Suddenly, my buddy frantically whispers, "Buck! Buck! Buck!"
I let down. Sadly, it is doe-only season right now in Northern VA. :archer2:
Still, it was a thrill. Had a doe come in about 40 yards later in the day, but no shot opportunity. Maybe next time . . .
Kingsnake
Cool ain't it.....I love that feeling.
That friend of yours is still learning the difference between boy deer and girl deer. If it's a horse he still has no clue. No horns.
Killdeer :biglaugh:
Just wait till you drop the string.
God bless,
Nathan
Good luck next time out!
