A combination of extremely hot and dry weather has literally burnt up  everything but the sage brush and this incredible flower along the road side. I was amazed that it somehow still held flowers

The ranch house was a welcome site after a long 2 day drive

The ranch has permanent pit blinds near water holes supplied by a ranch wide water system they use for their sheep and cattle . The blinds are partially buried and would prove very effective for us.

mY hunt was short. By 8 am I had seen roughly 30 antelope. The drought has dried up all the natural water sources and the only water anywhere comes from the ranch's water system. At 8 30 a doe was drinking a short 9 yards from me. I hadn't picked my bow up as i watched her come in alone. Suddenly a shadow approached from my right. Right away I knew it would be a buck since my bow was still sitting in the bow holder.  Murphy's law! A great buck walked thru my shooting lane. After he passed the window and it was safe to move , I leaned to my left and retrieved the widow.  Looking thru the crack in the door I saw a 2nd buck coming in from my left. When he stopped and put his head down, I waited until I could see his Adam apple bobbing. My shot was slightly high as I didn't account for the fact that i was below ground and was shooting at an upward angle. The arrow blew thru him and as he spun it fell out the off side. The big VPA 200 3 blade sliced the the major arteries running along the spine and as the speedster ran away I could actually see a red mist trailing behind him.

I lost sight of him at 150 yards but I knew he was down. After 15 minutes i got out of the can and walked in the direction he ran to find him just over the rise and 50 yards from where I lost sight of him

The hunting was amazing. 8 bucks were killed on Monday alone! 13 hunters killed 15 bucks with two of them scoring over 76!

It was insanely hot last week. I was glad I did not have to suffer like some of the hunters who worked to fill a 2nd tag or were more selective and didnt fill their tags till mid week. One hunters Iphone said it was 115 in his blind. I'd show you their bucks but they aren't trad bow kills.

My buck green scores 60.6. It was the 2nd smallest of the week! He is beautiful!

NICE! I'm not into getting my animals mounted anymore, prefer skull mounts, but I think I'd have to get something as pretty as that mounted. Way to go.

.Thats it im moving to minnisota.you can hike all day in trinity co and not even see any sign if you are luckymaybe track a lot of. Bear but its really thick. Hounds have been outlawed now they will eat the fawns. Baiting is not. Allowed. But if one wanders into camp I hope he doesnt get into my creamed anchovies.
