Post by: stripe55 on August 08, 2007, 04:31:00 PM
What is the paperwork or pre-work required to get a bow into Ontario? Thanks for any and all.

no paperwork, brother. Unless you start sweating at the window about something..and they want to search your vehicle due to that, you likely will just drive across without a search even!

When I inquired (pre-911) about one with wheels, there was no regulations or issues with traveling with it.  I'd call the customs office at your crossing point in advance (usually an 800 number)and ask.  Wouldn't wait until you rolled up.....

Do you guys have to get a card listing tje bow before you cross?

Foer us over here (Canada), it's in our best interest to register the bow at our custom's so they don't give us a hassle when we bring it back...should they get picky about what we brought back.

Yup. Our customs are a little stiffer than they used to be, though not quite as stiff as yours!

Hey, been to Canada a few times since 911.  No problem with bows.  Tell them I am going bear hunting, they ask if we have guns, answer no bowhunting.  Then they just tell me to have a good time.

correct...should be no problems with bows. For personal use items that are made in Canada, NAFTA eliminated the duty, i.e., taxes.

Stateside is a stricter cross, but I bring my trad. bow over for deer season with no problems. Canada's just that much easier.
