I can only recommend the Vario a supperb unit very robust and adjustable. I have two set up.

Using it for years now.

Without a doubt, the Vario is made better, works better, and will last longer.  With that said, you are also going to pay for it.  The Vario is expensive.  I would take a step back and ask myself how many feathers I will be chopping over the next few years.  If you think you will be using a chopper a lot, go with the Vario.
Good luck.

Vario.

Yes the intial outlay is more, but once you have the base the cutters for different shapes are about the same cost as a new Little Chopper.

Also, if you need just a few feathers, Herb will cut any shape for you with the Vario. Used to, anyway. Just a thought.

Crashcastle

i sell them ,i was the first in North America to sell them and yes they are expensive but you honesty do get a good product .will last a life time with care .i have cut a lot of feathers (thousands) and have only changed inserts and the rubber strips and you will not change them often unless you use a lot of different shapes .
costs can be cahnging in new year with next shipment but right now one vario base unit plus one insert is $55.00US plus shipping unless you awant a twin DShijo and they are the only insert i charge more for and they are $20 and with base unit $60. they cost me $5us more to get .if you have any questions emaol me --- herb

The vario is far superior to the little chopper.
I have a review on the Vario on my site in the trad review section at  www.peteward.com (http://www.peteward.com)

Thousands of years ago, the boys chopped them out with a sharp stone. And they survived:) Choice is yours, buy the best and only cry once, or go look for a sharp stone..
