Hope all is well!
I'm looking to doing some testing with 452x and I'm looking into what strand counts people are using.
Have a 47# bow and wanted to know if a 12-strand padded to 16 452x is strong enough or should I go with more strands? Also...people who are using it and their bows are closer to the 60# range, what strand count are you using?
What are people using?
Thanks,
Josh
I use 16 strands , that stuff is super thin so you need some good sized serving material. 452x is some super strong stuff, hope you like it as much as I do.
I have used 8 , but like 10 better and I pad the loops to 16 to 18,, I serve the center with .030 halo put a little beaver ball on each end Quiet fast shock free on my Kwyk styk, all my bows are 55lbs
high 40's for weight and 12 strands padded out to 18 at the loops . 18 strands on heavier bows padded out to 21. I have since changed to trophy string material and like it a little better.
I'm with Gordon on this. I like 10 or 12 depending on the serving that I intend to use with loops padded to at least 16. I've used 8 before but it's crazy thin and too small for me even though I think it's plenty strong enough. Most of my bows are 50# and under though.
Take care,
Jason
you should try trophy which is more silentful...16 strands is a good starting point...

That couldn't be because your son lost your 452X spools, could it? :deadhorse:
Yep Doc it sure was and I wasn't happy about it but it turned out well .
