Hi all, I got a call today asking if Id be interested in moving from my home here in Pa to the Dallas area. My wife and I are talking about the pros and cons and im interested in everyones opinion on the hunting and anything trad in that region. Thanks!
PM'd you.
Lots of bowyers around but hunting is pretty much limited to leases or day pay hunting.
We do have a bunch of pigs here and they are a blast to hunt. Also that big yeller thing in the sky comes out a bunch compared to northern climes.
Mike
We have alot of trad shooters around here. I live in Denton . 30 miles N. of BIG D. P.M. Me and we'll dicuss the Pros & Cons. :wavey:
Wingnu, i gotta admit one of my big cons is the heat, im a yankee and not sure if my bloods thin enough!
Dadgummit Wingnut. Don't SCARE them Prospective customers off,Talking about that yeller UFO that hangs out here, Broiling the place up. :biglaugh:
Yes its very hot, but you can also shoot in Jan & Feb with only a tee shirt (and pants) more days than not. We also have a very long hog season, (12 months, 24/7)
I miss Texas!!!!!!
Pauljr, that is why one of the Patron Saints of Tejas is Saint Lennox Trane :) I haved lived and worked in Dallas since 1985. Sure it can get warm in the summer, but as Lewis said, your hunting in short sleeves in Jan / Feb. The rest of the folks you left behind in PA, will be wishing they could Just Hunt , instead of shoveling snow. Come on down, you'll be glad y'all did. Tu Compadres, Sutty
Thanks everyone!
They just opened up tons of public land in Dallas, Colin and Rockwall. These counties have not been hunted since the 70s'. Because these areas are heavily populated only bow hunting are allowed.

I know they opened deer seasons in these counties, but was not aware there was additional public land to hunt? Where can I find this info?
The public land I know of in Collin County is Corp of Engineering land and no deer/turkey allowed...just hogs.
