Hey guys and gals
Getting close on ordering another Great Northern Bushbow to accompany my Osage one.I'm wondering if anyone has any input on core woods. My draw is 26" and I'm defiantly ordering a straight grip jacknife but not quite sure whether the bamboo option is beneficial on this model. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Mo
Hey Mo-glad that Bushbow is working for you. I've got a Lil Creep coming with bamboo cores....the new Bushbow will be lighter in physical weight than the osage one, and I think the boo is a bit faster with a tad less shock, aand maybe quieter. Not as pretty as the osage, though, nor as durable.
Red Elm or Hickory... the one I had was Hickory and I really liked that bow a bunch.
Just call and talk to Jerry at GN. He will have the answers to all your questions. Great bowyer and a super nice guy to deal with. BTW, my critter gitter has an ash core.

Nice to hear from you.
You have no idea how your old bushbow and I have meshed.I've had a slew of longbows go thru my hands and I always seem to go back to the bushbow.(but I do have a Green Mountain I'm warming up to)
Keep me posted on how you like the Lil'Creep. It was my 2nd choice.
Thanks Mo
I would go with the bamboo since you have one with osage already :)
Jacob I defiantly plan on talking to Jerry.
Just figured I'd run it by the bros first. The more real life info the better.
If I'm not mistaken my critter gitter special had ash cores, very nice shooting bow.
According to Jerry, with the Bushbow there is no performance increase with bamboo cores. Reason being are the power wedges in the tips of the bow which make them static. One wood works as well as the other.
I have both a Bushbow and a Critter Gitter with bamboo cores. I also have had them with osage and hickory cores. To me, the bow pulls smoother and the performance is a little better with the bamboo cores.
I would go with bamboo, I like the way it feels and it will be light in the hand....and I like that!
Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming.
The bow is to be used primary for hunting so looks are secondary. I'm warming up to the bamboo cores cause I'm thinking of dropping a few pounds but would like to keep the performance up.

Bamboo all the way
