Title: Calf hair glove
Post by: wapitirod on August 21, 2012, 01:34:00 AM
years ago I had a shooting glove that was my absolute favorite but it burnt up with my house in a forest fire.  I don't remember for sure the maker but I think it was from Bear but the finger had calf hair on bottoms of the fingers like a tab and it was the smoothest glove I've ever used.  Does anyone know of any companies making such a glove?  I've checked all the major archery retailers and so far I can't find anything.

sounds like a great idea. it'd be cool if the calf hair was replaceable somehow. Maybe you could make one. Just get a nice quality glove and stitch on some calfhair. idk, just a thought. If you do find a vendor selling one, please let me know.

I'll definitely let you know.  There is a local guy that does good leather work and I may have him just make me one if I can't find anything else.

I have one that I use right now,and it's made by Neet. The only problem is that the hair came out pretty quickly.

Rod,
I've got a new one that I tried but never went to.  It was the one that Rick welch recommended, don't recall the manufacturer.  It came from Kustom King, but I don't see it on their website now.  The finger stalls are closed, not open.  I don't remember if it's a med. or large.  E-mail me if you're interested. I can take a pic if you want to be sure it's the type you're after.  Also have a new Duraglove and I'll make you a deal on both.

It's likely the Neet calf-hair glove.  Its tips are thin, soft, supple leather, and are slick even with the hair worn off. With the hair worn, the tips feel slightly thinner than a worn damascus. The tips wrap over the finger pads to the finger nail side, are semi-open because the wrap-over is cut more narrow, and do not have a sewn hem at the end of the tips like the damascus-type.
