Title: Footing carbons
Post by: Brianlocal3 on August 19, 2012, 06:15:00 PM
Does footing carbons affect spine that much? Or could I tune them up, add a 1" footing and still be good. Thanks

The part you are footing has an insert under it anyway. I haven't noticed any difference even with longer footings.

1 inch of 2117 that I use on my GT Trads weighs only 12 grains.  I can't tell any difference when bareshaft tuning.

I found that it makes a little difference when you use a footing longer than the insert. When you are going past the insert you are making the shaft somewhat stiffer, probably not much though. With that said, I use 2" of 2216 on GT's and CE's and 3/8" at the nock end.

someone posted a while back that they had done a 10" and it didn't affect the spine.I do 3 inch and they fly great. only reason it might effect it is because of the weight added but usually 30-40 grains doesn't affect it that much.
