Since my buds can't stay up past their bed time and need their beauty sleep :saywhat: And i'm not able to load my canoe on to the to roof my vehicle at the moment due to some back issues :help: i've resorted to walking the sloughs and backwater area of the local Lower Pascagoula WMA (Swamp). I've threaten to get new buddies if this keeps up lol!
One of them Tommy "Pascagoula Archer" asked me to post my latest adventure so he could see what been going on.
Since the last time out with Kirk Barnard I think i've been about 3 or 4 time out with a little success. But the thrill of the unknown is what it about when it so dark in the swamp that you can't see a foot in front of you when the light is off Spoooky!
I love reading RC's stories and adventure and his simple approach of telling of his days Journey. The land he frequents reminds me a lot of our here the rivers, creeks, and drainages and the interesting sight he comes across in his pursuits.
RC always seems to add a little excitement in his stories in the form of a winding, crooked, somewhat snaky way...

I took Tommy out last saturday but we only seen one frog and someone didn't get it for some reason, i only mention this to say I let guest shoot first :dunno:
Where were hunting at is under a bridge where several tributaries wind through and is covered with marsh lilies and grasses. The frogs will be on the edges of the banks of these ribbon of waters. The last time out I step on the top of a beaver dam that happen to have a cotton mouth moccasin under the sticks, tends to dampen the enthusiasm of the night.
This video was from last night right before dark. I wanted to walk out a new area before dark to check out any hazards beforehand. "To be forewarned is to be forearmed" a good saying to keep in practiced.

Well here are some pic's of the harvest from these trips not a lot but fun getting them. If you haven't been give it a try and watch out for the"Boggy Creek monster"

awesome!! how did you make those heads?!
Yeah, tutorial on those heads would be cool...8-)
Take it easy on Tommy, John if he's like me hunting season's approaching and got to keep everyone happy and get everything done or they'll be mad all winter cause ain't A whole lot that get's done extra during hunting season according to wife! Those are some great looking heads though, bet they increased greatly amount of meat on table, always good to read your threads Thanks and have a good one. p.s. maybe he's just scared of the chiggars!!! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Thanks guys, I'll find the link to the video where I learned to make the heads. A near miss now wind up as a skewered frog as the heads are approximately 3"x 3.5" at it's longest point.
Easy to make using concrete reenforcement wire. and then it is Gorilla glued into a standard insert. weigh approx 235 grains.
Here the link to make the gig point

My variation is
1. That I used the heavier concrete wire about 1/8 dia. prongs, hold up better if hitting rocks etc...
2. I didn't cut the slot, no need to, just use an insert and apply the glue and thread into the insert it will be a snug fit...
3 Since the wire is sturdier I used a Dremel tool to cut out and after flattening the prong points I used it to also cut the points and barbs.
Let me know if you any questions.
Thanks for posting the link to the video.

Thanks
