Week 9...Time does fly!
Good Morning Everyone, I thought we could try something a little different. How about some quartering away shots?
First set your plate off center on the target.

Next, if you have the room, stand at about a 45 degree angle to the target or if you can't do that then turn your target.

Our first shot will be close, lets make it 10 yds, from a sitting position like the you are sitting in a blind.
Shot number 2 is from 17 yds kneeling on one or both knees
3rd shot will be from 20 yds standing.
You can take a few practice shots before putting up the plate. I hope you enjoy this weeks fun shoot.
Ok, I just did an 8, a 6, and a 4, for a 20. I didn't score well, but I was pleased with the shots. There isn't a whole lot of room between a 10 and a 4 at that angle.
Week 7 catch up = 22
I had some trouble with this one. I definitely won't try any of these pretzels poses this year.
Week 8 catch up = 20
Looks like I need to get a little more focus on the cold shots
Week 9 total = 24
Shot 1= 10
Shot 2 = 8
Shot 3 = 6
Yep, this will be a fun shoot but a low score week.
I am not sure you have had a low score yet Matt!
My result
6, 4, complete miss for a total of 10
Just always go to pieces with that last shot!
The last one was a bit low and off to the left. Just didn't reach full draw when I released. Knew it was a poor shot but let it fly anyway :(
I rotated the target back in line a bit more for the photo.
Re-using some old targets too to save having to draw up new ones :)

Week 8 catch up 28 points.

I shoot week 9 this evening.
First shot was an 8, sccond shot was a 6, and the third shot was a 10. 24 for me.

Nice shooting!

That will definitely be the score to beat.
Are you sure that 6 is not a line cutting 8?
MORE Kneeling Shots??...... :scared: Y'all are Killin' My Knees! :biglaugh: :archer2:
Well, it aint Great, but I am Happy with the Line Cutter at 20 Yards!! :banghead:
That plate sure does get narrow at a 45 degree angle doesn't it?
6x2
4
16

Matt, it's touching the line, but it didn't break it.
Ill take a 6 a 4 and a zip this week, score = 10, but im ok with that because i think subconsciously my tendency is to shoot farther back on a quartering away shot and thats exactly what I did. First I need to clarify a few things...
Had a great practice day with Dogboy last Saturday but have realised I need more back tension and that my arrows are probably overspined. Consequently I have changed things (again) and am back to the drawing board.
Tonight the practice shots for WK9 were going all over the place, the light was fading so thought, too bad, have a go anyway. The Results are a complete fluke. Certainly not the result of consistency on my part :dunno:
So I post this score reluctantly as it really overstates my skill level...
Score: 20

I did have another go to see if I could repeat and pulled this out on the 3rd repeat, then fell to pieces again. But pulled off a 20yard "10" before giving up for the night.
Fun? Yes! Consistent? Only sometimes

Sure does! Who came up with this scenario anyway? Don't let him do it again... :D
Shot 3 was not so good and that was the one I had the most confidence in.
Week 9 total...18 points

Okay so travel makes me late again.
Here is Week 8's photographic evidence...
I count that as an 8. In my misguided effort to force myself to focus on a spot, I put a dime-sized spot and drew the lines later. Yeah right.
Week 9 by Friday, I think...
Misfire, great call on these shots!
low score week for me, 2 6's and a 4. But it was a great group!
make that a 16.
:-)

Good shot choices except for the kneeling thing again missed that one. Probably wood help if I wasn't kneeling on a air pad and swaying.
8 barely and miss and 6, 14
DogBoy900, It Sure Does Get Skinny!! :scared: I Agree!! Personally, I would not take a shot at a Critter "Quartering" one way or another. Another interesting thing about all the pics, is checking out the various ways the Targets are hung! I use a Roofing Nail with Plastic Washers.

16 for me
It just hasn't been a good day of shooting :-( Guess I'll have to settle for my 12 this week.

Working alot of overtime this week. I do not get to see my house in the daylight. Working dark to dark and then later. I will make week 9 next week.
18 for me. I was not displeased with that. Shot them cold this morning.
After a few practice shots, I managed a high left 4, high left 6, and line cutter 8 just right of bull. In order. 18 total.
When do the elevated (roof, treestand) shots begin? :dunno:
Here is my week #8 and week #9.
Bkyrdshooter week #8 = 26

Shot my new arrows and Oliverstacy string tonight. 6, 8 and 4, for an 18. Nice group tho, so I'm happy.
Been on travel for work all week. Probably won't be able to post until sometime Saturday.
Shot an 8, 6, 4. 18 total.
This was a good one!
8, 6, 6 = 20 for me.
This was a tough one.
I'm with you Matt. Put me down for 18 this week please.

here is the tally
Misfire, you get to decide who starts week 10.
Giff do you plan to have this run all 12 wks like last year? Looks like with college and work and hunting seasons coming in it is get harder to get it in for some.
Ron
Well if we follow the guidelines set up at the start then we have a tie so far between xbmedic and gringol.
Trying to remember off the top of my head but I believe xbmedic has given us a scenario. I don't remember gringol though so...
gringol it is!
(my apologies if I'm wrong)
Please post any make up scores on week 10
Ron
