Title: Pre shooting warmup?
Post by: Bear Heart on August 17, 2012, 10:23:00 AM
Who here has a pre-shooting session warmup routine?  Another back injury has had me stretching out good before I shoot this week.  Got me thinking I should be doing this all the time.

Good reminder.  After two rotator surgeries (one each side) warms ups have got to be a good idea.  Need to keep one of those stretch banks that the therapy guys give you with my stuff.

I did not warm up this am before shooting my Pronghorn and felt it in my shoulder.

I have been practising yoga- and basic stretches are a very good thing to do.

yep...before and after I shoot: toe touches, trunk twists and front and rear arm rotations.

i do 4 differant stretches before i decide to shoot my heavy bows

1 "wake up stretch"- this is just where you stand on you toes and reach for the sky stretching your entire body

2- shoulder- i act like im going to draw a bow and i work on pulling my shoulders together and then when im at "fulldraw" i drop my elbow and squeeze together for a 5 count

3- more shoulder stretches- reach across grab elbow and pull across chest trying to touch other elbow

4 wrist/fingers- i roll my wrist and then i take my fingers and push them apart, same stretch i use for guitar warmup haha
