For those of you who have been wondering any about these two tabs i can give you some advice. i received both tabs about 2 weeks ago. i have big hands(L or xl gloves) and got the medium size in each. perfect fit if not a hair big. if laid on top of one another are the.. exact.. same.. size.. shape.. and thickness. the super tab is the same thickness as the Eichler tab.... but the super tab is one layer thick. where the Eichler tab is thin rubber and thin cordovan. so far the super tab is getting very soft where the eichler tab is still a hair bit stiff yet. for me personally they are to thin for doing allot of shooting as my fingers get sore. so im going to look for another heavier tab for doing high volume shooting. but to fling a few shots in the back yard there nice and they will be my go to tabs for hunting cause of the thinness and feel and i wont be shooting much in the deer stand so finger tip soreness is not an issue. so if you were not used to shooting a thin tab and want to use it for doing allot of shooting i would not recommend it. but for getting it broke in and shooting a few arrows in the yard and to use as your hunting tab i would try one out. there are no signs of wear and seem to both be well made and hardy. also beware these have no finger spacer so take that into consideration. good luck.
I shot a thicker tab before going to the Eichler. A black widow supper leather to be exact. My first Eichler was thicker than the next two. I am now used to the thinner tabs and shoot over 100 arrows many days a week without any finger issues. I cut the back layer off the thicker tab. Love them. Your fingers will adjust. Great release.
You might want to try the Saunders Pak-Tab, which is basically their old Fab Tab, only with different layers of various materials, so you can custom design what you want. I've been shooting one for years, and am completely sold on it. I shoot a 66lb. Bob Lee Signature recurve, and have never had a sore finger with it.
Redshaft thanks for the review. I've used the Eichler tab and it is on the thin side as you mentioned. Haven't tried the super tab and probably won't. I'd like something thicker. Anyone know how the EW bates cordovan tab compares?
I've been running the Eichler and love it, but do on occassion which it were just a hair thicker...
The Eichler tab was my first try at using a tab, so hardly an experienced user, BUT - my release/shooting improved over the glove noticeably. I'm still getting used to it, but feel like a "tab shooter" now.

I use the Eichler tab and shoot 60# bows. It doesn't make my fingers sore and I like a thin tab better. I also like the integrated finger hole over a lanyard. The only tab I really like better is something like a Cavalier, which is kinda clunky for hunting.

I've tried several different tabs (NEET calf hair, Black Widow, Bateman Cordovan, Wyandotte calf hair), but really like the feel of the string with the Eichler. In regards to the Bateman cordovan, I didn't care for the release of the string from the tab, plus the string brushed my lip (maybe because of the tab thickness). One last point, the hair wears off the calf hair tabs, where the cordovan shows no wear at all.
I use a Fred Eichler Tab as well. I have actually formed a thick callus on my right index and middle fingers from shooting so many arrows using the tab.
I have three Eichler tabs. Thick, medium and thinner. I shoot the medium most times with the thinner as back-up; I shoot them about the same. The thick one releases enough different to mess with my arrow tune. The thick one is way thicker than the thin one so I cut off the backer to make things closer over the three. The thick one was the first one I got, the second was the thin one. Because of this, I have no idea what thickness your tab is or what is standard.
My EW bates cordovan tab is long gone. I hate the elastic band one because it will fly off my hand. It also took on more curl, which helped having it fly off my hand because the string would grab it that much better. I think it was closest to the thin Eichler tab and maybe even a hair thinner if not the same. I was not thick tab at all.
I have had a couple pac tabs. They are ok, but always stiff with the backer. The felt layer tend to wear out and pull off the screws quickly. Nice tab for bow fishing, but that is about all for me. I prefer the cordovan way better.
I bought two EW Bates calf hair tabs and two Eichler tabs at the same time to try out. That was about a year ago. I immediately gravitated towards the calf hair tabs and put the Eichler tabs away.
Then about four months ago I ran both of the calf hair tabs through the washer and dryer :banghead: They shrunk up like crazy. I started shooting the Eichler tabs because that was all I had at the time. Even though I had used a similar tab by Saunders I didn't like them at first. For one reason or another i never ordered another Bates tab and after a few weeks the Eichler tab began to grow on me.
Now, I am shooting as well as I ever have and I LOVE the Eichler tabs.
I tried the eichler tab about 6 months ago and hated it, i dont even know where it is now. last week I gor a bateman cordovan tab and thats all ive been using since i got it. i think i like it because of the finger spacer.

You mentioned about the string brushing your lip, most times when this happens its due to the tab being too big. try trimming it down some and you will notice that little slap go away.
Redshaft, your post got me thinking. I compared my Bateman to my Eichler tab. They are both the same size, but I think my problem with the Bateman is the elastic finger band. For comfort/feel reasons, I may be placing the elastic band too far towards my finger tip. Perhaps the Bateman tab moves on release because of the elastic band. For now, I'll stay with the Eichler, too close to hunting season. Thanks for taking the time reply.
