Title: Any Suggestions for String Waxing
Post by: Rustic on August 14, 2012, 07:43:00 AM
I usually wax my string while my bow is braced. But how do you do it without bracing your bow?? I guess I could build a jig but I thought I'd run this by you guys first. Thanks

It's easier when braced. Use a piece of leather to rub it in and it will melt into the string.  It only should need to be done very occasionally.

Thanks, looks like I'm on the right track.

Dave, to wax it off the bow all you need to do is hook one end over a nail, stick one end in a vise, have a friend hold it, etc. and pull tight with one hand, wax with the other.  Doing it braced is easier though. No need to wax your servings, especially any that are mono.  Hey, if you'd like to shoot together sometime (or have me hold one of your string!) shoot me an e-mail.

Another tip I learned here was to use a hair dryer to heat up the wax to help melt it into the string; works very well.
