Does anyone know about this vintage recurve? Friend of mine gave it to me and I know nothing about vintage recurves and longbows. It appears to be in good shape aand has a unique green glass back and red glass belly. Just curious as to how old this guy might be. I might get a Dacron String made for it and see how she shoots. Its marked 959 X82 50#'s @ 28". Any help would be appreciated.
I had a short hornet a few years back. They were made by the Cravotta Bros. of Pennsylvania back in the early 50s through the 60s I think. They had some money problems, and went under. Bows were
pretty cool though. On yours the 959 is September of 1959. The X82 means it was bow number 82. I hope this helps, enjoy that bow Stripstrike1! rat'
Thanks Riverrat. I knew someone would know about this old bow. I am going to string it up and see how it shoots. It is in real good shape. The green glass has some discoloration and a little wear but overall its in good shape.
I have one at 45# and once I put an SBD string on it, it shoots great! Very very quiet as well. I had a B50 string on it before and it had a lot of shock and vibration in the hand. Now it's dead!
