If you have them, could someone post up a couple good pics of these bows. I have the Bear Archery Catalog on CD, but can't locate it at the present. I am interested in getting one of these. Thank you much.

Tony,
The Alaskan first came out in 1958. I have a 53 Kodiak but no pictures handy.
I PMed you a link to a early Kodiak guide as I couldn't get it to post here.

Don't tell me Tony you were born that year and got to have a 1953 Kodiak ? Is the wife "Letting" you pick out your retirement present ? :biglaugh:
I purchased two Bear Alsakans this past year. One is a recurve with butterscotch back and yellow belly. The other is a longbow/recurve hybrid with a dual shelf and black back and orange belly.

I really like the halloween bow. Ordered a custom orange and black flemish twist string from one of our esteemed sponsors which came out great!
It's sad when you misspell the name of the bow when it is staring you in the face on two bows!

No worry's this ain't a spelling test but what really matter's is the pictures make up for it and besides Tony is at that age that he cann't see you spelled it wrong... :biglaugh:
Black and orange was 1959-1960. Jack may know the year on the other. It's early 1960's I would guess. I own three of those Halloween jobs. They are sweet shooting bows in my opinion.
Colin,
The other would be a 1961 I believe. I have owned several of the 58-60 dual shelfs but no 61s.
Thanks fellows for the info and the pics. I now understand from Jack Shanks that the Alaskan was not made until 1958. But I am still interested in a 1953 Kodiak of sufficient hunting weight. Hey Keefer if you keep that up, I am going to have to report you to Mr.Golt for conduct unbecoming an Eastern Shoreman and Traditional Bowhunter(LOL). Again thank you much. I'll be on the look out for a 1953 Kodiak. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.
