We have all seen the movie the "Bucket List", things to do before the big sleep. But this being traggang WHAT'S YOUR BUCKET LIST of TRAD>>->BOWS to own or shoot? you can also throw in your bucket list hunt.
My Bucket list of trad.

I want to hunt all these with my bow:

Mule Deer
Elk
Saskatchewan whitetail
hunt the "Bow Zone" in Alberta
Mountain goat
Blacktail
hogs in Texas or Florida
Blue grouse
pheasant
javalina
gator gar
buffalo
and those big jack rabbits out west
Ok I would also add an american Bison
north :bigsmyl: of the border Big White tail all with bow
Bows? Well, I own many Pronghorns, but not a "50's Style" which Herb used to build. Good news for me though. Herb has got his old form down, and will be building them again! He say's mine is first on the list! Yippy! I love the look's of them and have always wanted one. I could never find a used one for sale.
I also want a 62" one piece Pronghorn.
Way too many animals to list on my bucket list. I would love to draw a WY Mt. goat before I get to old to tackle that country. Other than that, some hunts I could afford would be, Coues deer, Sitka blacktail, Columbian blacktail, and a caribou hunt in the future. Javis with Kent Omstrem in Jan, and a Texas hog hunt in 2014 is planned.
Oh gosh, I can't forget griz, would love that. Hope we can hunt them soon here. Any other griz hunt would be way outa my means.
Oh yes, moose. I have killed a Wy Shiras, but would love to hunt an Alaskan or Canada moose someday.
And then there is...
A early LH 70's Bear B risor.

as for hunting...
still want to take a 20"+ black bear, bull moose..and aussie buffalo
I would love to hunt mountain lion with Dr. Thomas and Rosie, on foot and with no snow machines. He is my favorite author and I truely enjoy his stories!
My second is to to hunt with my wife and daughter in Africa, which we are saving for and hope to complete when my daughter turns 16!
All Osage one piece pronghorn
In order from most to least important.
1)
Have plenty of time to shoot, hunt, and enjoy game from my hunts with family and friends.
2)
Get my wife a bow of her own that she'll enjoy shooting with me. If it's custom and pretty, all the better, she'd like it even more.
3)
Be able to keep all my arrows in a bull the size of the bottom of a coke can at any distance out to 40 yards with 95% or better success.
4)
I guess it wouldn't hurt my feelings to upgrade to a custom bow, custom leather accessories, and have plenty of custom made arrows that fly like lasers from it as well :archer2: . However, that isn't really a bucket-list goal. I don't really see the need for more than one good bow, so I may as well dream big and make that bow a piece of functional art.
WHEW!!!!
I have often thought of this list over the years.
1. Hill Bow in Juniper with oversized Grip
2. A&H ACS 3 Piece TD Longbow
3. Bear TD Recurve
4. Pronghorn 3 Piece TD
5. Vintage Archery 59 Bear Repro.
6. Black Widow TD Recurve
7. ******** Pinnacle ILF TD Recurve
8. Pittsley Predator TD Recurve
I could go on and on. Hopefully someday I'll have a great many of them on my wall.
So many wonderful bows out there and so little funds to chase them right now.
Nalajr
this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish, but the stars just have not aligned to allow it yet.
I want to hunt Elk with my dad before it is too late. I would also love to get a black bear someday..
I would be holding my 58" Toelke whip HS for either hunt!!
Toelke Whip, heard great things, got a big family see good deals used, maybe one day I'll send that P.M. I'll take it.Just can't now.
Bows:
Blacktail 'curve
Robertson 'curve
Widow PLX t/d in osage - I'm no stranger to PLXs but I've always wanted an osage one and haven't secured it yet.
Hunts:
A cow moose from Wyoming this Sept would fit the bill.
Bow 59' Kodiak.
hunts Alaskan Brown Bear,Moose.
62" schafer silver tip cocobolo riser with black glass limbs 65#@30"
62" tall tines cocobolo riser with black glass limbs 65@30"
Caleb
I want one bow each from Barry, Gene and E. Don. E Don had a Jack Harrison I'd really like to track down.
I'd like a great hog hunt, with all my brothers of the bow
F-Manny
I would like to own a Shafer, TT, and an A&H td longbow. As far as hunts, my bucket list includes: a 6x6 elk, a bull moose, a B&C whitetail, a 180+ mule deer, an antelop, some type of ram, an Alaskan Grizzly, and a caribou :archer2:
Have the bows I want -- too many. Have taken turkey, whitetail and mule deer, black bear, elk and a moose. Would like to do a caribou hunt or two, and a hunt for mule deer only. Too old and not monied enough to chase goats or sheep and wouldn't live long enough to draw a permit anyway.
Got all the bows I want and a few more. Now I just enjoy hunting Elk with my son and our friends-don't need any more than that.
I'm pretty well set on bows, but I'm eagerly awaiting a new Blacktail sometime this fall. I have all the details worked out in my head except I switch from one piece to take down every day...LOL. I definitely want a one piece "tail, so if I go with a TD for the new bow, I'll sell the TD I have now or a couple of my other bows and get the one piece.
Bows I'd like to try:
- One piece Silvertip
- Kota Prairie Swift (one piece recurve)
As far as hunting, I would love to go elk hunting in the mountains. Just like I read about, tents, horses, bugling bulls...maybe someday.
Pretty simple for me at this point in my journey:
Never hunted yet with my bow. I am just recently feeling confident enough in my shooting to consider letting an arrow go for a kill. I am focused on hunting deer here on our land, hopefully this season.
As for bows, I've only owned a few in the 5 or so years I've been shooting, and only last fall got a used Selway 'lil mag; first bow that feels right in my hands, and fits my newly developed "style". I would
love to have a similar bow with just a bit sweeter feel, which fits me perfectly - I daydream about a Big Jim Buff, Toelke Whip Classic, or Kohannah Fury.
Bob Lee Ultimate
I've got all the bows I want but I guess it would be my dream to take the North American Grand Slam with my longbow.
A Northern Mist Shelton is the bow is the bow I'm drooling over right now.
Ross
Get my five year old daughter her own bow and be with her when she takes her first whitetail....
JL
triple digit draw HH longbow
I want to elk hunt in the mountains with my two boys(6 and 4)someday.
A liberty or Mohawk would be my bow pics. Maybe another Longwalker.
Rob
I want to kill an antelope and a bear.Elk would be cool too but the other two stay on my mind.
I`ve had a bunch of bows but think I would like a schaffer and know I would like a stalker.RC
I'm not sure I have a bow on my bucket list but I do want an antelope and a sitka stag.
Not many people talk about Sitka deer......
Big list on what I want to hunt.Top of the list hunt next year, moose in Newfoundland
Want to hunt Moose and Whitail... we don't have them in California....s far as Bows I'd like to try a 58/60" 2pc ACS
I'd like to hunt and shoot a mountain goat.
I'd like to shoot a Shrew bow, and maybe buy one.
I'd like to get a 66" Black Widow take-down longbow, with a Toby grip, in 58# @ 31".
I'd like to get a tricked-out, custom Acadian Woods Tree Stick.
On my bucket list is to hunt with my new to me Dave Johnson cedar longbow.
Id like to get my 3 year old son turned into a hunting partner for me. I want to help him have the opportunity to love hunting and the outdoors as much as I do.
And if he doesn't, that is alright too.
As for my bucket list; I want to hunt every kind of deer on the planet. Red Deer, Axis deer, etc.
I am hunting European Fallow Deer in a few weeks, so I can chalk that one off soon.
As for bows; I have a Morrison and I love it. It is pretty well my dream longbow.
My recurve is gorgeous as well and shoots as accurately as I could ever dream.
I am going to stick to just these two bows for quite a while....
Hey all,
I like threads like these, it gives me an idea of how close I am to what others like and desire too. I posted my Bucket List of BOWS earlier, I didn't know hunts were supposed to be added too. I'll add my list of Bucket List HUNTS too.
1. Guided Elk hunt. Numbers don't matter, just a great hunt with good ramblings around the fire each night.
2. Guided Moose Hunt in the YUKON using boats if necessary.
3. Guided Brown or Grizzly Hunt using Horses to get way back in amongst 'em.....
4. Aussie PIGS and Buff for about 2 weeks.
5. Any REAL TROPHY HOG or Russian Wild Boar hunt in a foreign land. I'm talking about REAL BIG HOGS. I'd love to chase those monsters...wherever they are.
The following are on my BUCKET LIST and have been for a long time, but since my draw weight isn't very high, the law would mandate me using a Rifle. That shouldn't get my key to the Trad Gang Executive Lavatory taken away should it?
6. Cape Buffalo in Botswana using either a fine English Double Rifle or a fine Bolt Gun with a Mauser Action.
7. BULL Elephant, both Tuskless and Tusker with Jeff Rann or Ivan Carter. Of course a Classic Double Rifle would be on my shoulder.
That's about all for my DREAM hunts. Oh wait a second, I forgot the one I think about all the time. Since I am now a TEXAN, I may get to pull this one off someday.
I would love to find a private hunting location where me and a guide could go out on Horseback each day and hunt pigs. It may not be practical and to some it might even sound goofy, but I have always wanted to hunt pigs in Texas and Elk in Colorado or other Elk location using horses. I think it would be a great time to get up each morning and figure out where to go and head off on horseback to start the hunt. Then do the same the next day for about 10 days. That would just be awesome.
Thanks
Nalajr
On my budget,a hog hunt with friends,An elk hunt, and as far as bows I would love a 64inch stalker.
id like to get to TX on a hog hunt with another tradganger
I would love to one day own a true English Longbow
I'm in the process of thinning out a lot of my bows that I wanted to try, but see no reason to keep. I might consider swapping my 66" Sparrowhawk for a 68" 2-piece (just to be extreme).
I've got a Lost Creek Life Ender on order to go with my 62" Judge.
I would really like to order a Hill Country Cree or Shrew Lil Favorite to cover the "mini" end of things.
Went to Africa with my 2 sons and used a .375 H&H for everything. Would like to go back for a very select Impala with a bow.
Ron
Pretty much have my bows where I want them with the recent addition of the Fox High Sierra Takedown, I'm concentrating on the hunting trips I'd like to go on before I take the BigDirtNap. I'd like to hunt elk and I'd like the take a good Grizz with my bow. I've got a better than average opportunity to take a quality black bear this year and a nice whitetail with Trad gear, both of those are doable right here at home I think.
I'm fortunate enough to have lots of quality bows...would still like a few more though.
I'm heading to Mozambique in less than a month for a free range Cape Buffalo hunt-that has been on my list for some time;I'm not getting any younger so I figured I better go now while I can still handle the poundage and the rigors of a true safari spike camp hunt. I've been to S. Africa a couple of times (it was great) but this is a totally different animal...pun intended.
I'd really like a moose hunt in the Yukon and hope to do that in the next year or two.
I hunt in Alberta every year for the past 6 seasons and still don't have a monster white tail to show for it, this year would be nice!
I'd like to get a really good hunting/blood trailing dog one of these days.
I'd like to meet more of the tradgang folks who I read about here.
Bear takedown bow. Wait I just bought one have to come up with a different bow...... :bigsmyl:
JD Berry Apollo - 66" 45lbs or 47@28
JW
No bow I want more than the ones I already have. Tall Tines Rock!!!!
Sittin in a woodlot in prime Whitetail habitat with Uncle Barry would be kinda cool. And I'm still working on getting Bjorn to join me on an Alaska Moose Hunt.
Trap
The topic doesn't make me think of owning a bow. I want to successfully hunt elk, caribou, and moose, including hunting Alaska and Africa. Just hunting out West would about do it for now.
Bows Ferret Recurve and somemore Pronghorn Longbows. For what hunt Elk and Blacktail with my Dad, Bighorn, Moose, Pronghorn, Bison, Bighorns did I say Bighorn already.
Bows:
'59 Bear Kodiak,60" 50@28
Bear T/D A riser w/50# limbs
Dryad Epic ILF recurve
Uukha ILF limbs
Morrison Max1 limbs
Hunts:
Moose(anywhere)
Black Bear in Canada
My dream bow is a 64" one piece recurve made by Dan Toelke(so far he has not produced such a thing), though I wouldn't say no to a recurve of the same length made by Kirk of Bigfoot Bows.
Dream hunt? Bighorn sheep here in Montana...
Bows: Stalker and Dale Dye
Hunts: pronghorn, mule deer, elk, caribou, African plains game
1. SW Colorado bugling/rutting elk with T Bar M
2. Newfoundland or Yukon bull moose.
3. Africa for Kudu and a warthog.
Hopefully elk in 5 years and Moose 5 years after that. Africa is likely just a dream....
I would really like to have a Kanati and a Hill style long bow someday.
For dream hunts I would like to go to the western US and hunt elk up in the mountains. Wall tent, open camp fire, the whole bit. I hunted WY for pronghorn (not a trad trip) and really fell in love with the land scape. My first choice is definitely white tails, but you can't beat spot and stalk or camp food!
A Jack Howard Gamemaster Jet for 20 bucks at a garage sale, only way I'd be able to afford a functioning one.
Spot and stalk warthogs in Africa (finally going in June); elk hunt in New Mexico or Colorado (maybe 2014 hopefully)..
My old Black Widow is my dream bow but the dream hunt would be spot and stalk only in Africa (going in June) for:
Kudu
Waterbuck
OK spot and stalk for any animal in Africa, lol. I have tried it a couple of times and the animals over there made me feel like I had huge clown feet.
Anyone interested in bear or moose in Alberta this year shoot me a pm please...I have connections ;)
I'll call you today Dave. Any time better than another? I'm looking through the website now.
Trap
I got some unfinished business I'd like to tend to with a couple of awfully big whitetails where I hunt behind my place.
Far as bows go, I've been looking hard at a PTF-X Black Widow Recurve. I'll get a lot better look in 8 to 10 wks.
I have owned over 100 different Traditional bows(meaning makers) and some of those as many as 4 or 5 of them. I have had all the so called big names, like Robertson, Widows, Blacktails, Schaffers. The only one I wish I had back was a Blacktail I owned about 6 years ago. Shawn

I as pretty much set bow wise but an elk hunt a year from this fall with my son when he finishes his PHD is the one I am looking forward to.
For a guided elk hunt I would highly recommend the Chef Outfitters out of Ronan MT. This was my first guided hunt. Mick and Karen run a first class hunting and guest ranch. The have about 100 horses and at least that many pack mules. We packed in some 30 miles into the Bob Marshall Wilderness to their camp, Being a wilderness area there are no machines allowed. The had a number of canvas sleep tents and a cook tent. The cook was there all season. The guides would go out early in the AM to get our horsed and saddle them up. They would then start afire in our wood stove and we made our way to the mess ten where a hot breakfast was waiting along with a pack lunch. Full dinners were provided with a nice homemade pie or the like for desert. All of this done on propane oven and cookstove that had to be packed in and out at the end of the season along with the rest of their camp. An amazing production.
We had 2 hunters to one guide and each day was an adventure. Hunting with rifles we took 2 elk and a deer for the 6 of us on an off year for them. It was hard hunting but they made the experience one to remember. We saw a number of bears both black and grizzly. I passed on a nice whitetail buck and took a cow elk at the end of the hunt. We flew home with a freezer of meat and memories to last a lifetime.
Red stag
jacobs sheep
After a year overseas on tour, I plan to hunt 5 of the big game species in my province this year on return.
Top of my list would be to get drawn for one of the very few bighorn sheep tags that are given out each year in my home state of North Dakota; then elk, then moose.
I am satisfied with my bows for the most part. I am interested in getting a three piece pronghorn just in case I ever am able to fly somewhere to hunt. Kind of a longshot, tho.
To make and hunt with a sinew backed juniper bow and an osage selfbow someday. Always wanted to try a Mowhawk and Thunderchild and to get back a 60" one piece pronghorn I owned once.
Bucket list for animals is pretty long but number one on my list(don't laugh) is a whitetail deer.
Gross boone public land whitetail.
trad bow(s)? Howard Hill Wesley or Big Five...40-45#, 66" AMO
Hunt(s)?...pigs, 'gators in LA, MS or GA
Trap...best time to call is early morning...you know, hunter/fisherman early
DDave
I want a 62inch one pice 50 at 28 silvertip
It must be a Sasquatch Static Tip Recurve, just ordered one, and my dream hunt would be to take it to BC on a Grizzly hunt
