In general how many shots should it take to get the stretch still on a new d97 flemish string? 50,100,150 shots?
Dave
A lot depends on how well it was made, and how many strands. 100 shots or so on a good string should do the trick.
I break in a string in about 2 days.....string it, shoot it while tweaking the brace height. Leaving the bow strung, I let it sit overnight. Day #2, same thing, adjust the brace height, shoot 50 to 100 arrows, and it's usually good from there. I don't put on the nock point or silencers until the end of day 2. I use masking tape for a temporary nock point.
I just made one last nite and I think it is already settled in. I streach the crap out of them first so that helps
I was putting on a new string recently and after putting on Catwhiskers, started *twanging* the string to break them apart. I noticed that the brace height settled quite a bit, so twisted up the string and *twanged* again a few more times. Once again, the brace height shortened. After a few rounds of this, the string settled and the brace height didn't change. It took considerably less time to shoot that string in... a matter of one or two shooting sessions of 20-40 arrows.
