What's your favorite hunting method?
Tree stand, ground blind, spot & stalk, etc...
THX AGAIN & SORRY for all the questions!
LURP DOG
Spot and Stalk , hands down........
,,,Sam,,,
Spot and stalk too. There are very few straight trees in my neck of the woods.
Most successful tree stand. Favorite still hunting.
Spot and stalk. Nothing like the adrenaline rush from being that close.
Spot and stalk, and still hunting (favorite).
Tree stand till last year , tried a popup brushed in, deer walked right by 10 yrds( had a fawn stick it's head in the window)
My favorite method is my least successful. I like to print out a map from Google Earth or Flash Earth, grab my bow, gps, possible pack, and set out exploring.
Looking over new area, reading sign, maybe marking a tree and trimming a few branches, then settling into a cozy spot on the ground for the last hour or so of light. I have yet to actually get one on these trips, but have had some cool encounters. Nothing like finding a new spot.
As far as success, tree stand all the way. Usually at a spot I found on one of my exploring trips.
Spot and stalk puts on "even ground" with the game. It is the way I like to hunt also. Probably could be much more successful at times if I used a tree stand...just can't sit in one for hours on end wondering what is over the next ridge.
Deer -from a tree. Hogs - from the ground.
I am most successful out of a treestand but really like stalking.
Still hunting. Any and all game animals, this is my favorite method.
Tree Stand mostly.Spot and stalk for hog and javeys.
Spot n stalk and still hunting. Can't sit still for very long. As my wife says -- referring to grouse vs. ducks: "We're walking people not sitting people."
Spot and stalk everything :archer2:
Still hunting and spot and stalk out west. Tend to use more tree stands and an occasional ground blind in the midwest deer hunting.
Still Hunting behind a Good Ground Blind!
I use to do a lot of still hunting many years ago, but it was always torture for me having to hold myself back, slow down, etc. I always feel like everthing's already seen, heard or smelt me where I am and think just over behind those trees looks better anyway.
I'm just too impatient to enjoy it. So I hunt for good spots then climb a tree so I will stay put a while.
I glass, spot my target.get the wind in my face..
creep up on it..watch it run away..pull stickers out for two weeks..
I have a BLAST!
Elk ... calling
Blacktail deer ... rattling & treestands
Turkeys ... calling
1) Calling - elk, coyotes, fox, turkey, geese, ducks, moose (if I could draw a tag)
2) Spot & stalk - mule deer, bighorn sheep (if I could draw a tag), mountain goat (ditto)
3) Stillhunting - small game and anything else that is movin' in the woods or fields....
4) Ambush - on water hole or walllow or seep...if the conditions dictate the method....
5) Bucket list hunt: mountain lion with dogs....
Huntin' from a tree stand has never been in my vocabulary....
Keep the wind in your face!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Make that three in a row...
CALLING, no matter what it is though ELK have a huge leg up in the fight.
Second is spot and stalk.
I am a tree stand hunter.
Spot and stalk.
Spot and stalk.
For me glassing or spotting a critter in the distance then plotting and excuting the stalk is where the rush is for me.
I honestly do not know how people can sit in a blind or stand all day - wish I had the patience as you can't agrue with the results.
<<< Read My Name For Answer.
I love spot and stalk but it can be tough down here. I primarily use a ground blind with treestand in third.
Ground blind provided by nature. I can't climb anymore or I would use a treestand when conditions dictated it.
Tree stand for whitetails. Pop up blind or spot and stalk for turkeys.
Spot and stalk.

yep
Bowhiking with a license.
I hunt the way the area allows..... I especially try not to get hung up on treestands. Too many good spots have no trees
Mostly tree stands but also am using ground blinds quite a bit. I don't care much for pop-up blinds, my 68" bow is hard to handle in one. I have diligently studied Asbell's writings on stalking/walking quietly but just don't seem to be able to pull it off. I sound like an elephant walking through corn flakes on my most quiet day.I really envy you guys who are not noisy when you walk.
If I can't bugle in a bull elk, then spot and stalk is a close second.
