i am wanting to make a simple kids bow for just shooting about the garden, idealy with a 5lb pull, its for a 7 year old.is it possible to taper a piece of plywood at both ends?or will it just break?
Not sure about plywood. You can use some of the wood strips like Lowes carries. 2" wide oak, @ 1/4" thick. Attacha handle piece and pyrmid the limbs. 5 lbs might be light for a 7yr old. My son is 7 and shoots a 35# recurve. He is pulling about 30# on it.
Plywood...I think not. But just about any decent hardwood will work. Here's how I do it: Kid\\'s Bow Tutorial (http://residents.bowhunting.net/sticknstring/kidbow.html)
thanks for the advice guys!
Try and make a self bow for yourself.
Shoot for about 50#@28"
Chances are you'll end up with a beautiful kids bow. ;)
Listen to John Scifres, he knows what he's doing...
half inch or one inch PVC pipe. Cut the pipe to about 3 feet, run a string threw the pipe and bend the pipe to have a brace ht of 7 inchs and tie the string. Tape on an arrow rest and your are good to go. My granddaughter has been using one since she was three.
