Out scouting / hunting pigs last evening and camee accross several of these in the swamp. Have not seen them before, obviously the hogs are munching on them. They look, smell and have seeds like a persimmons but they don't look anything like the ones we have at the beach.
thanks for the help

Paw Paw fruit! Very edable when the skin turns moore brown almost black and the fruit gets nice a soft. Hard to describe the taste but its alot like vanilla custard with a hint of banana. :D
Do a google search and you can see alot moore about them. The trees grow in groups and look like small Hickory tree's, they don't get much taller then 25ft.
I will see if I can find one of my old post about them and bring it back up. The ripen up around here closer to the first of October give or take a week.
Here's a link.

paw paws!!! If you find them on the ground -- hunt over them! Everything, and I mean everything in the woods eats those. I always said that if a pineapple, apple, and banana could be crossed -- it would taste like a paw paw. Very good fruit to eat if you find them ripe. Around here, and back home in WV, they are gone VERY quickly after dropping.
Yep, paw paws. If you can hunt over that tree when the fruit is dropping, I guarantee you'll see a whole bunch of critters coming in for a snack.
thanks guys, the area was really tore up, guess I found a pretty good spot.
Do you have a trail cam you can set up over it?
Anyone ever see deer eating paw paws?
Indiana 'nanners. The trees here have fruit this year. Good hunting around and everything eats them.Probably dropping early to "de-stress" the tree..
