Post by: Sockrsblur on August 01, 2012, 06:25:00 AM
I could use some suggestions. Im looking for.a bow for jenna. She is 11 , 5'3", and interested  :)  I've been looking at the 3 rivers website but what I hoped to find was a youth bow that u could buy stronger limbs for at some point. Any thoughts from experience are greatly appreciated!  Thanks guys! Jim

Mike at Maddog bows makes some really nice bows for kids.  I seen a pink and black for a young lady here on Tradgang just a few months ago.

I'd second Benny's comment about Mad Dog.  Spectacular bows in lighter draw weights and lengths -- far better than nearly anything else I've seen out there.  If you want something more "stock" then check out Black Rhino.

Alternatively, check out the traditional bows section here on TG or see what used gear Ted at Raptor has in stock.  I've gotten a few used bows from Raptor and haven't had a single complaint.

For your daughter's size, figure to look in the 25#-35# range.  My daughter is similar in stature to yours and is shooting either a 33# recurve or a 42# LB (depending upon her mood).  The recurve gives her more staying power -- that is, she doesn't wear out as quickly with it.

I think some of you guy's haven't read the post properly ,
Sockrsblur said that he wanted a bow  for his daughter that he could upgrade the limbs on to a heavier poundage later on which means he needs a takedown. Mike does make some great value for money little kids bows but I don't think he does a take down does he? I was looking for the same thing thats why I went with a youth takedown from herways bows 50" & two sets of limbs, yes it cost a  bit more but it's what I would recommend based on the request asked.
