Title: Bowyer for refinish???
Post by: Goshawkin on July 29, 2012, 11:16:00 AM
I have a longbow I'd like to have refinished. It has a few small dings and scratches and was touched up with minwax before I got it.
I'm looking for someone to refinish it with a polished gloss finish and a new leather wrap.
I'm in the process of refinishing an old ML-10 right now.I used advice from here and went with 6 coats of Minwax spray poly, sanded with 220 then 320. I'm waiting a couple weeks for it to cure then polishing it with the paste wax.I'm not much of a wood worker, but I did better than I thought I would. If I could use a grinder and my tig welder, they'ed come out great! I just want this new bow to come out perfect,so I'd rather have someone who knows what they're doing do the job, than me giving it a go.It's a Timberline(My favorite bows) Any suggestions on who to contact? Thanks.

Yep, John took up where I left off, and is doing a great job!  It makes me feel good to know that when I refer someone to John I know they are going to receive quality work.

Craig from HHA has done work for me, and Nate from Sunset Hill has said he would do my Schulz bow. Those guys know longbows!

I am looking for exactly the same. High gloss refinish and new leather grip.

Is John the man for that?

Some of the mystery is how soon do you want it done, how much can you afford to pay for this service, and how long past the promise date you are willing to wait for your bow to be delivered. I've had 3 bows refinished, and 2 camo dipped, and only one refinish job fell well below the acceptable level for me.

Boy owlbait nailed it!! Make sure of the delivery timeline..........many of us have waited 12-18 months!! Some refinishers make promises like aspiring politicians!    :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:
