Just got some new D 10 string in bulk. I haven't used this material before. How many strands would you recommend? I have used B50 and D97 and am looking for some reference points. Thanks!
Six is fine for a 50# bow I use 8.
Pierre recommends 6 strand up to 50#'s,8 strand for up to 62#'s and 10 strands above 60#'s,all with 6-8 strands of B50 in the loops.Love D10 ,I think all my bows now use it.
Bjorn's right if in doubt or on the border weight I always go the higher strands.
I use 12 strands, and pad the loops to fill the nock grooves. I serve with .025 and easton nocks fit perfect.
Copyied from the SBD order form:
"SBD 6 Strand "Ultra" Built with D-10 SBD Ultra (for bows at 53lbs or less)"
Pierre also recommends shooting 9gpp or better when utilizing the Ultra.
BCY (the manufacturer) recommends using the same number of strands as you would use with Dynaflight '97. It's only sold as "Force 10 Crossbow Bowstring" now--you can get some specs from BCY's website under that label.
You can also e-mail Ray Browne at BCY--I've always found him to be very helpful and willing to answer questions. He can also put you in touch with his factory string makers if needed.
