Out in the yard shooting like I do just about everyday when I reach full draw and a hummingbird comes in between my bow and my draw hand. He is checking out my red Cap and orange fletching. I let down and goes in a circle around me and then comes back to look at it again. He was so close I could feel the air move from his wings. I have had small birds sit on my arrow while hunting but nothing like this....kind'a neat!
That had to be awesome!!! :jumper: :jumper:
Very cool!
Native Americans believe that nature is constantly sending us signs if we would just watch. Not everyday things, but when animals or nature interacts with you in ways out of the ordinary. Hummingbirds are good signs they are considered a good luck messenger. Maybe this years your year, maybe that particular bow or arrow needs to see some time in the field this year. Joe
Boy Joe .....I hope your right!!!
Very cool, if it's going to be your year can you send that Hummingbird my way?
C   L
You may make up for all those shotless years this season ron!
Either that or you should start marketing a Hummingbird feeder that looks like you at full draw.
COOL
I rescued one from my Mom's garage last year. Actually held it in my hand. Them things are TINY.
Neat story, Ron.
I sure this is a great sign,Ron!
:readit: Maybe it means I should buy a Hummingbird bow......my wife's not going to be happy :biglaugh:
If you could feel the air he must've been your fan! :bigsmyl: ;) :p
Very cool.
Ron, can I hunt next to you this year...
Very cool!
Ron, You didnt tell them you were baiting :smileystooges: with that orange fletch and a sweet tooth, Its some wonder you were not attacked by more :readit:
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: Baiting is Illegal in NEW YORK!
Back when I used red hen feathers, I had that happen when hunting hogs this time of the year.
geese Ron you got me going for a sec w/ that title, LoL! was sitting on my deck enjoying a cocktail one afternoon wearing a black widow hat w/ the red dot in the spider & had one really alittle too close, killed a nice buck that year, you're due bud! good sign.
Was it a male or female (ruby and black throat vs a white throat)? You might have a nest nearby. The female gets territorial and buzzes you when you get too close, that's how I usually find the nest. I have found nests and seen young ones in the nest for the last 3 years-looking for one this year.

That is just to cool.I hope it's good mojo for you.
This was a male Ruby Throated, I have a feeder by my deck that they come to all the time. This spring I had 4 pairs raising the devil and chasing each other. Neat photos of the nest!
Ron,
Take your feeder and and hold it away from you a little and put your finger on the perch and be still as possible when they start getting close..Once they earn your trust they will land on your finger if you keep your thumb and middle finger on the other perch's best you can ...Hold it liker a person would a wine glass...I used to do this all the time and then had my wife join in...It's the lightest thing you ever felt and once they start resting on your finger you can entertain children and guests as they stop by..Somewhere I have some pics of me with humming birds resting on my finger my wife took about 9 years ago...If you do get them landing then it's a shure thing to get yourself a Hummingbird bow....Just think of them as little salemen telling you to order a new bow..
Cool.
That's a neat experience. You must have looked pretty attractive at full draw ;)
I like that...."little salesman"....LOL! :biglaugh:
always love those type of interactions. Cool.
that should earn the bow a name i think, maybe "nectar"????
I once had a hummingbird buzzing around me and wouldn't let me alone. Scared the crap outta me. I thought it was trying to stick its beak in my ear!
After it left I realized it was only trying to get at my fletching sticking out of my back quiver.
Cool birds.
Awesome!
That is why i spend as much time afield as ican. Last weekend i was clearing irrigation dit ches of beaver dams and a little weasel was in the ditch next to me. Then i found a big goppher snake, i considered that a perfect Saturday. Wishwe had our hummi gbirds back
I heard when a hummingbird looks into your eyes it means your going to want a new bow soon...

:biglaugh: My wife is gonna love to hear that!
That is cool. My wife and I were sitting under a hemlock early this spring and one came pretty close, but not quite that close.
Those little guys love to dive bomb me every year when I'm out and about. One day in a ground blind I had about twelve taking turns trying to get necture from my nocks, sure makes the waiting game fun.
Cool!
