I saw a lots of beautiful arrows on a recent post here. As I was looking through the pictures, I could not help but noticed there aren't many traditional shape feather. So my questions are, what shape do you prefer and why? I myself prefer traditional shape purely for the look of it and of course, stability.
I have been really liking the low profile banana cut the last few years.

I prefer the standard shield shape....but have used Pope and Young cut a few times but I always put them too close to the nock and the tip of feathers makes noise against my fingers.
Below you see first set of gray barred in PY cut; then red in reg shield, and then natural barred in a low profile shield.

I used to use shield cut, but I find the parabolic is a little quieter.
Modified shield. I burn mine a little different than a standard shield
Shield cut for me, No particular reason other than I just like the looks of them!
Shield cut, but I do find that some may be noisy in flight. I have never had parabolic be noisy though.
I like a shape that I burn. Its a mix between traditional and pope and young.
If I buy them, I go with shield, just like the look more.
I use Parabolic. It is easier to come by in my area and is a little quieter than shield cut.
i switched to parabolic from shield found them to be quieter
Sorry double post.
I usually use parabolic because I can find them easier in pink flourescent yellow.
I use the 5 inch shield cut. They work fine but can be noisier than the parabolic if ruffled. Parabolc are the quietest. God Bless
4" Parabolic for me
I mostly shoot shield but also use parabolic sometimes.
I like the look of shield cut, but my newest arrows are parabolic. As long as they shoot straigh
I used to shoot 5in parabolic but now I've made the switch to a 3in low profile traditional. I like lots of shapes but I insist on lower height than what most shoot.
i like these tiny 2 inch razors

5" shield cuts.
T-hawk.
I shorten them a bit for 4 fletch.
They're pretty quiet.
Kinda a cross between parabolic and moon.
Though for looks I like trad cut.
Shield cut for me. I touch the feather to the nose as part of my anchor, and find it a little easier to find the same spot on the feather each shot. Or at least I have myself convinced of that.
shield cut
Parabolic.
I like the looks of shield cut so that's what I use.
Favorite look...

What I use because it looks ok and is pretty quiet...

Here are mine. I like the traditional shape.

I switched to shield and use the tip of the fletching as an anchor point against the side of my nose. And I like the looks of them.
For purely aesthetic reasons, my personal favorite is the Pope & Young cut but most of my arrows are fletched with 5 1/2" Shield cut (both real & artificial "turkey feather") barred.
low profile banana or A&H style
I prefer 5" Parabolics. The arrows I use to bear hunt with, I like the 5.5" High Back Shields since my head of choice is 160 gr Snuffer.
Low profile banana cut for me.
Shield
I used shield cut for years, and then one day I went to the 5 1/2 high back parabolic....not sure why, love them both.
I have always though banana cut was the coolest looking, but have never had a great source for them.
When I do 3 fletch I use shield.
When I do 4 fletch I use parabolic.
So, Day Tripper have you decided what you like?
As you can see above many people choose fletching based on aesthetic reasons.
If your deer are wired, maybe you should try and get the arrows as quiet as possible.
I shoot 5" shields because that what I have always shot. I like the looks of a low cut banana, but just haven't gotten around to loosing my first two dozen arrows.
5" shield cut because I like the look. Had 4" parabolic before that was quieter but I'll stick with shield cuts from now on I think.
i like shield high back 5 1/2 for looker arrows, and for hunting prefer the parabolic 5in.
I match them to fit the broadhead but 5" shields are my favorite.
Shields are my favorite at the moment. But I change every now and then.
shield 5 1/2 inch
I like the looks of the shield cut but have parabolic on all my hunting arrows because they seem to be a little quieter. Either case they are all 5" long RW.
I've always used 3-5" shields. I just fletched up a few with 4-4" parbolics and am really liking the way they fly, and they seem to be quieter. I'm gonna play with them some more and might end up running them with 4 fletch for awhile.
4" Parabolic here as well.
Shield cut for me. I just like the looks and don't think there is much noise difference.
Shield cut here.
5" shield here. figured I havnt had any issues so why change. plus I like the look
5 1/2 shield for me, cause that's what size chopper I have.
I've been using banana fletch for years. I burn my own and have started making them a little shorter in length and height, Still work great like that.
