Title: Traditional archery books
Post by: Basil_K on July 24, 2012, 01:02:00 AM
Howdy all.

I'm interested in reading a few books about traditional archery.

As of now I'm reading the book by saxton pope and hunting the hard way will come next.

Anything else you guys would recommend in my reading list.

Thanks!

Agree with those above.  Just finished Longbows in the Far North by Donnal Thomas...solid read.  You'll like it.

Hunting with Bow and Arrow by Saxton Pope was great.

Just started Hunting the Hard Way...100+ yard kill shots???  I know he was the master, but is that true?

All of the books by Barry and Gene Wensel are great.

Also check out the two books by Roger Rothhaar.

Fred Asbells books are awesome:
Instinctive Shooting Volume 1
Instinctive Shooting Volume 2
Avanced Instinctive Shooting
Stalking and Still Hunting

An added bonus to most of Freds books are the hunting stories in back...excellent stuff

I also enjoy Fred Andersons book, "The Traditional Way" a great deal.

Fred Bears Field Notes is a book that I have re-read 4 or 5 times now.

Like Shortlongbow said, The Sand County Almanac.  Should be required reading for all hunters.  One of those books that changes the way you look at things.
