Title: fun day at the range with mini-me
Post by: Oregon Okie on July 23, 2012, 03:03:00 PM
Finally got my wife and son up to the range. This is about 20 minutes from my house. 3 - 14 target field courses, 2 - 14 target 3-d courses and 10-100 yard butts at 5 yard intervals. Really cool place. Thought I would put a few pics to show the scenery. My wife shot a few but she is getting ready for a long backpack trip so she "hiked" with us with her heavy bag instead of shooting.

We shot two of the field courses. Not a bad backdrop.

long and downhill. I told him to keep 'em in the fairway and we just kept shooting and picking up until we got close enough. Can't resist shooting far and downhill.

Looks like that bow is plenty easy to pull. Once we got his arm wrapped to about his pit so he wasn't slapping he relaxed and just let 'em fly.

Fun day.

There is a traditional shoot up there this weekend if anyone is in the neighborhood. Just up Provo Canyon out of Orem/Prove area. Shoots Saturday and Sunday. Don't know too many details but it is the second year to try to put on a trad only shoot and my first year in the club.

I love it. Judging by the way he is pulling that bow he needs some "real" feathers. I bet he could really make the fly then.

yeah blue tick.. it comes and goes with him. Seems like he's into again for this week.  He's got some "real" arrows but he likes to hear those fly???? Usually shoots the regular fletching but the pic was cool. In the second pic he's already launched the five normal fletch and one flu flu. He emptied the quiver down the hill.

WOw that is a beautiful place to shoot.  I'm jealous and only 20 minutes from you home!!  Have a blast.  Picked up a little Ragim recurve for my daughter this weekend.  SHe is very excited about having a "real" bow for herself that will actually stick an arrow in the target!

Have fun!!

Good stuff.

My oldest(6yrs.) is amazing me at how well he is doing and that he wants to go to 3d shoots. His little brother (4yrs.) usually makes it through about 2 targets and loses intrest.

Yeah Ryan, you have seen me shoot    :)
Rob, when he was littler we made a major breakthrough when i let him shoot at a cardboard box with nothing in it. Somehow shooting where arrows stuck out the back made a big improvement in the fun. He comes and goes on it still.
We have been doing the balloons lately too.
