I just got this bow in the mail and couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the package this morning. Jim is making a new 2pc that's by far my favorite 2pc system out there. Now about my new bow. As a lot of you know I've always got a couple CENTAUR build dates booked up and if I'm not letting them go to a fellow Tradganger I myself enjoy opening up a new CENTAUR every once in a while.
I spoke with Jim about a month ago and that's when we started coming up with the Wood, Dark Matter and Horn combo for my new bow. The new 2pc needs to have a Dark Matter riser but I wanted something different so I asked Jim to do beautiful Bacote veneers on the riser which when finished gives an accented sight window. Then I wanted some horn so Jim was gracious enough to share a piece of Aoudad Horn that he had been saving for something special. I figured to be a little more difficult I asked him to put the Horn on the finger grooves, tips and thumb rest. Jim also met my last request by puting 3 1/2" Bacote overlays on the belly side of the limb tips. As you can see from the pics Jim hit a Grand Slam with this bow.
I didn't think my day could get any better but then I shot the bow and I can't really explain how well it shot. The bow is so shock free, fast and quiet it's not even believable.
The specs are:
58" Triple Carbon
50@28
2pc
RH
Dark Matter riser with Bacote Veneers
Lots of Horn
I think Jim may just be getting a few calls about his new 2pc bow.
Thanks,
Looking quite forward to viewing pics.
I'm also looking forward to see the pics.
In an apparent flurry of excitement you have omitted your digital offering... Or perhaps your are exercising ones imaginative dark matter...
Just having fun Scott!

Man,Jimmy has gone and done it this time. COMBER that is a flat out AWESOME. I love the lam's of Bocote behind the string nocks on the belly. Jim Neaves is a Master of his trade. Congrats to you both, rat'
The bow shoots awesome and with this takedown system other then the two bolts you almost can't tell it's a 2 pc. This TD system is the ultimate in strength and looks but it's very labor intensive and takes a true craftsman complete.
Wow, dibs when it comes up in the classifieds!
Killdeer :bigsmyl:
Very nice looking bow, congrats.
WOW! That is spectacular. How about some black bolts for the takedown?
Wow! I'd name it Sybil.
Now that is unreal....!!!!! Awesome...!!!

I was thinking the same thing :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
my imagination, i guess.
it was jim neaves' thread, and it appeared to me that there was some insider smirking going on about what bow he shot.
no. there WAS. killdeer asked what bow he shot, and then there was some insider haha.
check out the thread. mine is less than a week old, and traxx gives a link to jim's.
I want to add, the work with the horn is fantastic. Flows extremely well with the rest of the design. So many times horn looks out of place or stuck on to a bow. This just melds with everything else. Excellent!
I want one. :saywhat:
Wow, what a bow.
An artful masterpiece with the most alluring treasure concealed w/i its beauty.
Congrats!
good looking bow! If you ever decide to move it, don't bother putting it in the classifieds, just give me a shout...gotta stay ahead of killie and ron on this one lol
WOW !!! Impressive work by Jim Neaves :notworthy:
Bill
That is just plain cool!
That looks life changing. I want one now.
Beautiful bow sir!
Very nice!!!
WOW    Beautiful bow Jake! Jim hit another Grand Slam!
That's pretty damn impressive...

I'll say...that Jim N. sure knows how to build a bow!

Ron, I know Thunderhorn has that type TD system not sure if anyone else does. If I were going to get one, I would go with this type system. Has to be SOLID.
Can you imagine holding this beauty you just finished and then sawing it in two pieces.

Actually, that takedown system doesn't look so complicated to me....and it looks like it could be used to "retrofit" almost any 1-pc. bow into a takedown bow, even a completely finished one. It looks like a good system to me.
What a bow! I never considered Centaurs because I thought they didn't make take-downs. If this bow shoots as well as it looks, I need one!
It's a beauty for sure. Good Luck with it. I thought it was a bit pricey but WOW, worth the $$.
ALDO
hey comber, do you happen to have another centaur at your house? I'd be interested to know the physical weight of this one compared to one without the dark matter...just how heavy is this dark matter stuff, is it noticible compared to one without?
PM Sent Larry. Go ahead and give Jim a call.
SWWEEET!

Groves used to have one that cut through the riser the other way, perpendicular.
The way this two piece is cut gives it an unbelievable amount of shear strength. I've got a Thunderhorn two piece with the same type of TD system and it's by far my favorite. I had and seen problems with other takedown systems but I've never seen a problem with this system.
now that is a real beauty congrats
This is a stunning bow!
Jake,
Beutiful! Jim has mine scheduled in the next couple of weeks!
Seeing photos of yours just builds the anticipation!
I'm planning on Cottonmouth skins on my 2-pc. Dark Matter.
Like the horn tips - will call Jim about adding them.
Enjoy, and thanks!

Wow.
It never ceases to amaze me how a trad bow, a simple piece of utilitarian equipment, can be such a beautiful work of art.
way cool!!!
Absolutely beautiful bow!
Now THAT'S a good two piece system! I may have to give that one a try. Nice job Jim!

I believe you'd find that pretty darn tricky to do a retro fit like that on a finished bow. I think i would be hesitant to try it at all on some hardwoods alone. Jimmy's got some "Dark Matter" working for him on that piece of engineering....
Nicely done bro....
Jake I'm Jealous,beautiful bow.
WOW, This bow is gorgeous. Congratulations!
