California BigHorn, Dall, Desert,Rocky Mountian or Stone...?? i want to see pictures!
I'm sure there are quite a few, but a great feat would to be the first in your state. Steve Gorr of Cascade Archery (sponsor) took the first Bighorn with a trad bow in Colorado in 1973. It was a full curl with 33" horns and Steve took it with a running shot at 30 yards.
A little off topic, but I live 45 mins from glacier natl park, and have been within 5 yards of mountain goats several times, they have very little fear of humans around Logan pass, as it is a very popular tourist area. The sheep I've seen there have been a bit more wary, keeping a good distance. I hope to take one or the other with a longbow someday, but unfortunately it won't be this year.
I know the Robertson boys, Yote and Dick have done well. Yote has taken 3 Dall Rams with a longbow, maybe the only person to have done so.
Catalina ram, #46 Kanati with a 660 grain arrow.
First shot was 30 yards and the second was 70. Couldn't believe I made that one...

I'm hoping 4th time lucky...it'll have to wait until next year though...
LOVE SHEEP HUNTING!
d.
I believe Doug Campbell killed one with a stone head a couple years ago. I tried to find his write up on here but have not been able to. If I remember correctly it had a strange follow up story as well.
Doug Bourgland,he was with Jay Massey at the time.A fantastic story in the Alaskan Bowmen Magazine.
Mario Locatelli from Hamilton,Mt has killer at last 3 with his longbow, over the years. This is why he is called mountain goat man!
I've shot a few ewes over the years. Missed two Rams. Did get a ewe tag this year.
My dad shot a bunch of sheep with a Jack Howard Gamemaster. Don't know where he got them all, but he hunted a lot on Catalina and (I think) Santa Cruz islands. I wasn't quite born yet when he got them (I'm 41 now), but lived all my growing up years looking at the mounts, which included, among a lot of other species, several sheep.

Wow Jim. Steve didn't know there was one I'll look into it
Al Rinaldi took a Bighorn in Washington state back in the 70's using a Bear takedown. He showed me the bow last year and I've seen the picures in the Washington State Bowhunters photo album. There have been others that I can't name off the top of my head.
Those on Santa Cruz Island were Marino Sheep

Steve Gorr with his record first ever sheep taken by bow in Colorado in 1973.
Fantastic
I've killed a few with the rifle and only need a dessert to finish my slam
there is not a greater trophy than a ram with a stick bow
Fred Eichler has his slam
AKDan (Danny Williams) has killed two Dalls.
Yote Roberston has killed 3 dalls, Joe Stalmaster has killed one.
Jim great picture and kill, and unless i'm mistaken you got it with a Custom Big Horn no less!
I took an 8.5 yo ram here in MT last year...for pic go to Bighorn site on Bowsite
Yes, it was a very lucky day of bowhunting. Bighorn takedown, cedar arrow, eclipse broadhead. Jim
Allan Correia who goes by TDHunter on this site has taken a Stone sheep and a Mt Goat.
Shot this guy back in 1989 hard to believe it's been that long ago.

Lenny got this sheep this past year. He earned this one for sure.
I started training to go this august... We'll see what happen.
I killed a Dall ram in 2012 with an old Jack Howard Gamemaster Jet. Hunted in the NWT.
I think you can add Fred Eichler to the list.
