anybody try these on your recurve yet? thinking about giving these a try. Looking for results you have had using these.
thanks
mike
I put these on all my stickbows. Outstanding at quieting a bow.
I have them on one of my bows. They work fine and are supposed to last a long time.
I haven't seen the newest Leech. I've used the older one on several strings. They were pretty durable but occassionally would break.
For kicks I weighed three silencer types yesterday.
Older String Leech -- 20 grains each
Cat Whisker 1 full-length piece -- 34 grains
1 Commercial yarn ball with built in ties -- 37 grains
All of these seem to silence equally well although I'd rank them slightly better in this order: Yarn, Whisker, Leech (as best these ears can tell).
Won't give you any issues with rain or brush on them and they really silence my strings well. Great product! I do however think they are way overpriced for a piece of rubber though!
I use them, they do not abrade the string as cat whiskers do. Had trouble with cat whiskers fraying the string after being on a while. 4 on a string silences the bow better than any other type for me. Thanks, Roy
Depend the string material,Work well on dacron string but not good if you use it with astroflight string, at least on my bows.
1 penny worth of rubber and $13.99 worth of marketing and packaging.
I'll stick w/ the cat whiskers. They will do just as good of a job quieting my bows.
sounds like they are worth a try.
I will say from my compound days that some silencers were rubber and some were navcom and seemed to make a much bigger diference. just never tried on a recurve before.
thanks
I used them on my bow for a weeklong moose hunt when the weather was supposed to be mostly rain - it was. Thought they'ld be less affected by the weather and they were comparable in silencing the bow relative to other silencers.
I have used them in the past. With the skinny strings I make now they don't last 2 weeks before the get cut in half by the string. Monkey tails work well they survive longer than the leaches. These thin strings seem to be hard on them too.

I've used them in the past and while they work well, they didn't last long before being cut in half.
