Hello everyone! Can anyone give me some thoughts on the Bear Super Kodiak and the Bear Ausable? I may be buying one of these but would like to have feedback from hunters. If you have pics, would you mind posting them? I need to make my mind up..Thanks everyone! :notworthy:
Never shot the ausable. But i know for sure you can't go wrong with the super kodaik.Very good smooth shooting bows.
I think the super k is the way to go I didnt get along with the ausble well
Well I have owned a dozen or more Super K's or Kodiak's so you know I got to like'em. Never owned an Ausable but my hunting partner bought one last spring and I have shot it several times. I actually like the Ausable alot but not sure how you would compare the two as they are two totaly diffrent animals. I like them both, but to be totaly honest for the price of the new Bear bows you could have a nice custom bow built to your exact spec.
Because of an old left hand injury I had to give up shooting Hill type longbows. A friend lent me a super K to see if it bothered my hand. Well it didn't,I sold a few of my Hills and bought my own super Kodiak and love it. Sure I could have gotten a custom bow but probably would have to wait between 6 weeks to 6 months to get one. At least thats what I was told by 4 bowyers. The SK does everything I want from a bow and is very user friendly in my opinion and I got it in 3 days. Happy I did!
Thank you very much guys!!!
No experience with the Ausable, but I've got a 2011 Super K. It's a great bow. I believe some people don't give the new Bears a fair shake. Mine, at least, is a keeper.

Last year I bought the Bear Ausable, my first R/D longbow. Because of degenerating body I had to lower draw weight. My opinion is I am very pleased with the way the bow shoots for me. Have a look.

Have you harvested game with it? I mean, the poundage still gives you good speed? I'm considering #45 on mine if I hear that it is fast. Otherwise I'll go for #50. Is the draw smooth? Thank you very much.
I Received the Bear Ausable Longbow early September and was surprised how fast and smooth she drew. I got the 40# model due to a degenerating body and I draw 32" which she handles my long draw with no problem (no stack at all). I hunted whitetails with her but no shots were presented. I would not be afraid to hunt with said poundage, as many folks here hunt with such poundage and will attest that with proper arrows, a sharp broad head and proper placed shot will get a clean through and through the majority of times. No worries with that poundage in my opinion perhaps a few others will attest to many a game taken with such poundage. Happy Hunting and joyful journeys.
Never shot an Ausable but you can't go wrong with a Super K....
Thank you guys!
