Well, I finally made my arrows. I recieved a Doz Western Larch arrows from Jonathon at Kootenai River Archery and also my feathers, nocks, and points. At first look at these shafts the grain pattern was perfect and the coloring was gorgeous so I decided to just Poly over them with no stain. And did they turn out beautiful. I, not knowing any better, went ahead and tapered the ends and it wasnt untill to late that I realized the little pencil sharpener taper tool I have does not taper the nock end correctly, so a little work with the sanding disc and I got that problem squared away.
These pics are horrible but I wanted to post a pic anyway because Im as excited as a school bow with an A on his test. I will try and get better pics this weeked.

Nice work.
Lookin' good, nice job!
Really nice arrows, the natural cock feather sets them off along with the natural finish. Great job
Looks pretty good BL3!
How do they shoot?
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Now ya gone 'n done it.....you'll be hooked for sure. Grain looks pretty nice in those shafts. Have fun shooting your own creation.

Sorry, old frat moment. :D
These arrows are a beautiful start to your love affair with wood. There is no practical use for our fascination with wood grain and beauty, but it sure makes life more enjoyable. Shoot them well, and with pride, you did a great job. May your tribe increase and your quivers ever be full!
Killdeer :clapper:
They look great
Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how they shoot today.
Nice! They will work!
Nothing quite like a wood shaft tipped with a Zwickey.
Looks good!
Who's your friend in the background?
That would be Bo Bo aka jingle jangles. He does not like deer season because work and deer hunting are the only things he doesn't leave the house with me for.
Very nice.
SWEEEET looking arrows
Nice looking arrows!
Those arrows look nice you did a great job on them.I like tinkering around with arrows. It's relaxing and brakes up any bordem when I can't go out and shoot.

BTW: those arras look great! Now get some blood on them....
Well Done!
Great job ! Now you're hooked , best of luck with them , Fred
Nice arrows. It's really rewarding to shoot arrows that you've built yourself. Keep ya feathers dry & shoot straight!
Those should work just fine...hope you turn a couple of them crimson in color this fall!
Nice work!
Nice job bro. I started another batch of some Hildebrand spruce yesterday. I love making them. I put together 3 dozen in february for my bows. The only problem making arrows this time of year is that the humidity quaddruples the time since the humidity makes dry time on the stain about 72 hours. Then 48 hours per coat of poly. Anyway, good looking arrow. God Bless
Looks great.
looks great.. I prefere Poly over bare wood myself. PS I has a big Black Lab named Bo Bo
Well I shot the Kootenai river Western Larch arrows bareshaft today and have them flying well so I loaded up a zwicky tipped woodie and let fly at 20 yards and oh my. It flew beautifully I am loving these wood arrows. I did adjust nock height comming from GT 5575s but all is well.
Obviously I am new to woodies but I have some cedars I just picked up and these. I suggest anyone shootimg woods to give jonathon a call and try these out. They seem like they are heavier than the PoC and hit the target HARD. I think I'm a woodie convert. I do need to buy some glue on Judos or hex heads though because 80 % of my shooting is at balls and grass clumps and I almost lost a couple already
Look great. Even better when they fly great. Nice!
Eric
Those look really nice, great job...
Looks great. I make mine the same way nice, simple and ready for business.
Hello Brian they are looking good.
Jonathan
Nice arrows. I like "plain old" wood arrows quite a bit.
Maybe it's because I can't duplicate some of the amazing works of art I see on here, but I prefer simple. Nice job!!
Fun to shoot your hand made arrows!
congrats
