Anyone get drawn? Our group got drawn for the first hunt Oct 12-14 on Boggy. Man any help/tips about Boggy would greatly be appreciated!!
I've got a digital copy of the hunt map that I can email to you if you would like it. You can then go to Google map or some other sat map site and get a feel for the place before you get there.
It's been 2-3 years since I hunted there.
That would be awesome! Thanks pm on way
Congrats Greg!
We drew the fourth weekend Oct 26-28 in hominy. Should be a good hunt this year hope the give out quality passes again. You ever been up there before Grabwad? I hunted Boggy back in 2009 give me a holler and I can tell you where we hunted at when you get your map.
Just got a text that I drew for deer creek, second week of November. Crap. During the rut, lol. Got any maps of that area, Loat Arra?
You gonnna use that classic hunter, Wes?
I don't know might take it and the widow and see which one has the most mojo each morning
Patrick: my map shows all Mac hunt areas. It's best to use it to zone in on Google Earth or some other satellite website.
I will send it to your email listed on your profile.
Be sure to wear those safety harnesses. It gets exciting in a treestand when they start blowing up the old bombs and the earth shakes :scared: .
Oh finally :) drew Hominy Oct 26-28 Im pumped.
Horse this goingto be your first time at McAlester? It is a blast lots of good people to meet and big deer to at least get to look at
Scruggs, this is the first time getting drawn, actually first time I applied! I would love to hear any tips! I haven't been to Oklahoma but once!! LOL
I'm looking forward to hunting up there. I know I'm gonna be hunting early, but I'm just glad to have the experience!!
Weekend of 9,10,11 Nov. for me.
Jim, that is my weekend. Which area did you draw?
Bob, I will try to check my email when I get home, and thanks.
Wes, that clasic hunter will be great out of a tree.
I drew Hominy Nov 9-11. Coming by myself.
Been drawn the past 3 years but struck out this year. Good luck to everyone who drew out for the hunt.
dang pat this is your year buddy congrats btw i only put in for the last two nov hunts 0-4 last 4 years
I drew Boggy Nov 9-11. Anyone else in that area? This will be my first hunt there.
Thanks Dustin. This year so far seems like it is better to be luck than good. I'll take it while I can.
You know whats sad? I've lived in OK, even in the Mac until recently, since '95 and never put in for the hunt.
Time to change that next year.

Just as bad, I live 5 miles from the east gate, have a hunting spot 1 mile from the west gate and in my 35 years of living here, I've never put in for the hunts there either!
I grew up in Oklahoma had an aunt and uncle who lived there always wanted to hunt there but was unable to convince my Dad at the time to let me put in for the draw, hopefully I can arrange it in the future, good luck all.
Hominy. Sounds like there are a few of us going.
Not me this year, you fellers have a good time and kill some bigguns and post pics
I know there are some big boys over there but are there just an abundance of deer?
My standards are low, starting with does...I wanna shoot the first one! LOL AS far as bucks, I'm not particular, just would like to kill something the represnts the average deer, doesn't have to be a big one!
There are a lot of deer. They will usually give you a quality pass if you shoot a doe or a hog. Which means you will get to come back next year without getting drawn. If you kill a buck over 105 they give you another buck tag. When I was there I would say I was seeing 15-20 deer a day.
check out the photos from last season and also the all-time greats that they have caught on trail cams:

If you shoot a doe, are you done or can you continue hunting until the weekend is up?
Continue hunting. You're allowed two deer, only 1 buck.

You get to hunt till it is over.If you kill a buck over 105 inches most years they will give you another buck tag.

The extra tag is at any additional cost?
I saw the deer posted but IMO that not average, those are really nice bucks! My goal is to whack a doe and see one of those nice ones!
I don't know if they give another tag but having lived there and seen the bucks I have seen, 105 is small for many of them. As a kid while riding the bus I routinely watched a line of 8 bucks bigger than 125" every day as they walked from an off base field back on post. Biggest was well over 150.

I lived about 1/4 mile from the Turnpike and graduated from Savana, so very familar with the area.

Do any good?
I was lucky enough to get drawn out Nov 9-11 for Boggy this year. Pretty excited as I've only been 2 other times and they were at the first of Oct. Can't wait to see what its like at the first of the rut there.
Our group drew boggy Nov. 2-4. This is the 9th year ive put in and I've drawn Big Mac 4 times.
My two hunting buddies and I got drawn in to Boggy the week of nov 9-11. We are really pumped cause we have always heard it is such a great area. Any tips for us? Looks like we will be there with you SoonerBowhunter.
Congratulations to everyone who was drawn or has ever been drawn. I am one of the lucky ones to get drawn to hunt the Hominy area. Been emailing anyone & everyone who was has ever been for suggestions on where to hunt there.
I've taken two bucks. two doe & one turkey with my bows in almost 40 years of bowhunting. I need all the luck I can get.
Do you get to scout at all after the required meeting? What method of hunting do you do? Can you drive to your hunting location or jusr carpool? Sorry for all the questions but this is a great opportunity to the see a Pope & Young buck. Every deer is a trophy IMO.
Hey Yota4me, you do get to scout for about on thursday after the initial meeting. If you are by yourself, you will more than likely have to carpool with a group. We do treestands and ground blinds. We hunted Hominy about 13 years ago. The area we hunted was really great looking but it rained the entire time we were there. didn't have any luck. Good luck to you though. What week did you get drawn for?
I got picked for Nov. 2nd. and I hope it will be cool or cold with the bucks looking for some hot doe's. Google Earth has shown a few places that I'm considering. Though I'll take a portable tree stand for the right scenario, I prefer to wear my Ghillie & make a ground blind and also be able to stalk a little closer if needed.
Goodluck bj to you and your buddies on the 9th to 11th in Boggy.
sounds like a great plan. Good luck to you too! let us know how it goes!
Tell me about McCallester...I have a cousin who lives out that way...
Yota4me. I got a spot for ya. Pm sent
My new lease backs up to the McAlester Area. So did not apply this year. Saw some monsters on trail cam pics. I cannot wait.
It's funny you mention that, ours was close also. Ironicly I even grew up in Pottsboro also. Left there in '96 while in highschool for McAlester area.
Wife and I love it here and the lease in OK is way cheaper than any I could find in TX. Even with the extra cost of out of state license. I lost my lease here a couple of years ago and all I could find was 3,000 a year and 10 or 12 guys already on them. I have hunted OK before and love it. May not have as many deer as the hill country of TX, but the quality is better. Plus I can hunt with my bow from Oct 1 to Jan
I drew out Hominy (oct 26-28) any info would be great. i hunted Deer creek the year before last and found a monster buck on the last day but never got a shot. hoping for a little better luck this year. anyone who drew deer creek shoot me a PM.
