Title: tanto tip question
Post by: term on July 09, 2012, 07:42:00 PM
I have been testing the new Grizzly and Kodiak broadheads, as well as the 300gn tuffhead. I must say all are great heads each offering their own attributes.  My question is in regard to the tanto tip, should I be trying to put a sharp edge on this tip or is that counterproductive to the bone splitting properties of the tips. Any help would be great. Term

You should file an edge on it.I double bevel the tanto's on mine. The tanto needs to bite into a rib,etc if it hits from an angle.

Good to know JimB.  I will be ordering some grizzlies next week. 130s with 75 grain steel inserts for 205 grains up front (and a 50 grain brass insert) of a Heritage 150.  Makes for about a 580-590 grain arrow out of my 48# Toelke Super D.  Deathly QUIET!

I make mine sharp. I don't know if it really matters all that much, but it can't hurt.
