Any observations regarding these bows (RER Arroyo and Super Shrew) appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
I read that both are quiet and comfortable. I hope to hear which you think is the better hunting bow.
FWIW, I draw 30" and shoot 3-under. I like a bow weight of 43-44 pounds at my draw length.
All help appreciated, Skychief.
This should be good. I have shot and owned both. They are both great bows, but not similar in any way that I can tell.
Thanks pdk. Will you elaborate?
Well, one is a recurve and one is a r/d longbow for starters. Wider limb profile on the arroyo with thinner limbs. It really depends alot on your shooting style. Typically a little more mass weight in the riser and a beefier grip on the arroyo, but you can customize that abit. Static tips on the arroyo, which I believe was quite abit faster in my bows. I felt that the shrew had a little better 'pointability'. For these bows I think that you would really be better off trying them out if you get the chance. Once again, both great bows but very different.
btw, if you shoot 3 under, even with a 30 inch draw, you could probably shoot the 54" arroyo, but I think that the 58" arroyo is one of the best one piece recurves out there.
Thank you Sir!
As others have said, they are both excellent bows but not at all alike. For a 3 under shooter, I have found that recurves are more friendly but this is only based on my experience...
I've shot them both, not 3 under. I am a Shrew fan big time but I liked the arroyo alot. Probably the quietest recurve I have owned. The grips are totally different but they both worked for me. They both have that forward handle stability. In the end I am a longbow fan and didn't keep the arroyo. You really need to shoot them for yourself.
